You know who hates the state?

People who are deluded about their self-reliance. The people who take stability and order for granted because they have been kept safe in the loving bosom of the state for their entire pampered lives.

Ingrates and malcontents.

I pay five figures worth of taxes, and I am proud to contribute to the glorious order that allows us to flourish.
And this year's Kim Jong Un award for "WE MADE YOU PEOPLE, WE CAN DESTROY YOU" goes to ...

Remember when the state didn't exist and all of humanity died?
That was sad.
Good thing the state predates mankind, because those deluded assholes never woulda made it.
Certainly, humanity lived before there were states. It just sucked ass.

Honestly, just seems like a lot of running.

That's right. 40% American obesity, another crowning achievement of the State.
But hey . . . running sucks.
Come to think of it . . . working sucks.
Really, doing anything for anyone else sucks.
Hey . . . we should make an organization that takes other people's shit . . . and gives it to us.
That would suck so much less!

The totalitarian state for people who don't have real lives, is a fool's errand

Punishment in of itself

But it is self imposed

You don't have to live that way, you are not dolls

If you choose to take up this yoke upon your shoulders ?

Too bad, so sad, cry me a river

I agree. Access to more than enough food and plenty of leisure time are two of the many benefits of the modern state. May she last a thousand years. Perhaps that will give us the time we need to learn not to overdo it, and we can bring some of lard down... but even if we can't... gotta love that cheap protein and veg that is easy as hell to get.

The tribe says they weren't, because the tribe watched them.
So if they actually were providing something back to the tribe then they'd get some caribou, no problem.
It takes that extra layer of abstraction, called the state, to shield perpetual takers from the wrath of the tribe.
Maybe they were too elderly or physically disabled to go hunting caribou. Can't just assume everyone is a freeloader and abandon them to the wolves.
Maybe it's how a tribe supports its weaker members that elevates them above less caring tribes.
You don't have to post a bunch of passive-aggressive hypotheticals, tribes still exist.
You're going out of your way to avoid the simple fact that tribes can directly hold members accountable, and therefore don't have 44% of their members demanding the other 56% hand them stuff.

You need a modern state to pull that off. Any traditional tribe that only had half its member's contributing is gone.
;)
Must be great to live in a country where everybody lives as millionaires and is handed free shit without question just by simply demanding it and nobody is forced to live and defecate in the streets after falling through the safety net of an all caring state unwilling to turn a blind eye to their suffering.
Sounds like the perfect utopia you have there DB.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I'm a lazy hedonist

Stare into the abyss for long enough and the abyss stares back into you

Joy is Strength

Make money

Make babies if you want em

That is all the Westphalian Nation State is about in the end

Live it all in the now, no limit, is all you can do

Most of the people living on the streets in the US do so by their own choice. They take advantage of the state in the most blatant way. They don't contribute anything. The state provides them with free living space for no fee. To remove them has been ruled as being cruel and unusual punishment and therefore a violation of the 8th amendment. Just suck it up citizens. They are there to stay.

Giving free stuff to people who are content with living on the bottom, just scraping by, can only work in a society where there is a social pressure by the peers to do better. Where living on subsidies while healthy and able is looked down upon and people care about their reputation.

Sweden used to be like that and that is why our welfare state kind of worked for a while. Now we have a huge amount of people who just think it's a normal thing to do to live on welfare. That was the main reason they immigrated. Or why their parents immigrated.

It's the way they live and it's better than what they used to have. But we can't afford it. And we can't figure out a way to make enough of them want to change without removing the safety net for the people it was put up for.

If Sweden can figure out how to inculcate a sense of duty into a bunch of malcontents, please let us know.
