Thank heavens I have friends like you to tell me what I'm doing wrong and rub my nose in it with tales of how superior their lives are.
Who says they weren't doing shit all day? Maybe they were contemplating life's big mysteries, painting hunting scenes on cave walls or teaching themselves to juggle for the entertainment of the tribe.DBTrek wrote: Mon Apr 20, 2020 11:17 am Bring a caribou back for dinner.
That one asshole in the tribe who didn't do shit all day tries to carve a piece.
Tribe: "NOPE! Earn some before you burn some, loser"
Bring a caribou back for dinner.
The assholes in the nation who didn't do shit all day try to carve a piece.
State: "You only got that caribou because we made it possible, therefore 30% of it is ours"
Assholes: "We should get even more! Do you have any idea how many caribou Jeff Bezos got? Where's our fair share?!?"

Ain't nothing to it
Maybe they were too elderly or physically disabled to go hunting caribou. So if they actually were providing something back to the tribe then they'd get some caribou, no problem.
It takes that extra layer of abstraction, called the state, to shield perpetual takers from the wrath of the tribe.

People who are deluded about their self-reliance. The people who take stability and order for granted because they have been kept safe in the loving bosom of the state for their entire pampered lives.
Ingrates and malcontents.
I pay five figures worth of taxes, and I am proud to contribute to the glorious order that allows us to flourish.

Maybe it's how a tribe supports its weaker members that elevates them above less caring tribes.
You don't have to post a bunch of passive-aggressive hypotheticals, tribes still exist.Montegriffo wrote: Mon Apr 20, 2020 12:22 pmMaybe they were too elderly or physically disabled to go hunting caribou.
