However, enthusiastic activists at the district and classroom level CAN be effective at pushing the curriculum in a social justice direction (or against it), and it will take local parents paying attention to who is on the school boards and pulling their students out of captured schools.

The ability to fight at CRT in public schools at the local level doesn't exempt it from influence at the Federal level.
Both can be true.
You know when it will really matter - when challenges start hitting the courts.

Judges have authority unrelated to the politics of the executive office - by design.

Anyway, yeah, I am aware of it. I expect it to be about as effective as 'no child left behind' and other top down, federal education plans. If top down, federally guided public school schemes were any damn good at achieving what they promise we probably wouldn't be having this conversation because everyone would be good at critical thinking, they would know history, and be able to read and write at above a 3rd grade level so anything remotely like CRT would be laughed at and dismissed by the whole population out of hand.

You pretend the goal of American public education is to teach reading, writing, arithmetic and preparing kids to be adults. It is not, it does that very poorly at that. However, it does a great job social engineering.

Here is the rub:

Argument 1: the left is stupid because they think throwing federal money at a problem will solve it, and it won't.
Argument 2: the left is evil because they are throwing federal money at problems and solving them wrong.

They can't both be true at the same time, and I tend to think the first argument is more accurate since, on balance, it is easier to find idiots than villains.
