Also, I am not entirely convinced the president has that much power over something like CRT in public schools - and I prefer it stay that way. That authority is one of those 'cuts-both-ways' sort of things.

You must not be aware of Biden Admin policy and directing of funds toward teaching CRT.

One of the proposed priorities — to incorporate “Racially, Ethnically, Culturally, and Linguistically Diverse Perspectives into Teaching and Learning” — cited the “New York Times’ landmark ‘1619 Project’ ” and referenced Ibram X. Kendi and authors Dorothy Steele and Becki Cohn-Vargas.

Kendi’s teaching includes the controversial premise that “all policymaking is either racist or anti-racist, all racial disparities are the result of racism — and the measurement of any outcome short of perfect ‘equity’ may be a form of structural racism itself,” as New York Times columnist Ross Douthat noted. Steele and Cohn-Vargas have published books on creating “identity-safe classrooms.”

If top down, federally guided public school schemes were any damn good at achieving what they promise we probably wouldn't be having this conversation because everyone would be good at critical thinking, they would know history, and be able to read and write at above a 3rd grade level so anything remotely like CRT would be laughed at and dismissed by the whole population out of hand.

However, enthusiastic activists at the district and classroom level CAN be effective at pushing the curriculum in a social justice direction (or against it), and it will take local parents paying attention to who is on the school boards and pulling their students out of captured schools.

You pretend the goal of American public education is to teach reading, writing, arithmetic and preparing kids to be adults. It is not, it does that very poorly at that. However, it does a great job social engineering.
