There is a backlash going on it just isn't taking the forum of an outrage mob. It is taking the form of people voting with their wallets, and not supporting woke companies.
It's going to be a slow burn. The woke own the majority of the major communication (news & social media) platforms where non-woke views are ignored, shunned, or censored. So a lot of it is blink and you miss it.
Yep, and I love it.
It's one of the reasons I dont think its over.
People use 'normie' as a pejorative, but I am convinced that wokeness simply can't stand up to the scrutiny of people with normal brains. So far they have had successes because their ideas were presented with gnomic, tortured pretzel logic that was entirely inscrutable to the uninitiated.
Robin DiAngelo and Ibram X. Kendi, however, put all their ideas out in fairly clear language - and while they became media darlings momentarily, once large segments of liberal-minded people could see what the woke really thought, they rejected it wholesale.
There has been nothing but an endless stream of 'normies' reviewing woke literature designed for popular consumption that are all variations of "I'm liberal, but this is nonsense."
There isn't a backlash - just normal people saying, 'nah, miss me with that bullshit.' Wokeness has peaked.
