People always misunderstand the danger of the Ingsoc attack on language. They reduced the number of words in order to control what people were capable of thinking. Adding specificity to words, or inventing new words does not carry the same risk. If people want to add layers of specificity to the word racist, I am fine with that as long as I still have a language to describe what 'racist' used to mean, and I do.

You must be able to identify your problems & your enemies succinctly. Torturing the language & redefining words is an Oral Illusion; i.e. liberty is a synonym for freedom and we have freedom so what are you going on about? Only White people can be racist so you’ll need a couple seconds to carefully describe what black people who do the same thing are called. All previously written books, plays, movies, etc. that use the word “racist” are henceforth only talking about white people. Black people have no word for their actions so they must not be doing them.

Why can't you just say prejudiced or bigoted? We can get lost in the weeds over the changes in the definitions of words. People use moot and peruse wrong all the time, and words like mickle have more or less disappeared entirely. Oh well.

Trying to claw back the definition of the word 'racist' doesn't make much sense to me. If we agree that the real moral problem is the assault on individual sovereignty, you can make that case succinctly, and it really doesn't require arguing over who is or isn't racist.

To flip it around, it is a left truism that anti-black prejudice is responsible for black antisocial behavior. That argument doesn't rise or fall on the definition of racism. Neither does the argument for the moral superiority of enlightenment values.

The left has changed the definition of racism, and in doing so, have completely denuded it of its moral condemnation. When a leftist calls me a racist, it doesn't really bother me since I know their definition.

As for prejudice, it is, by definition, an intellectual failure, not a moral one. I am also prejudiced in all sorts of ways, but I try to accept data that disabuses me of ideas I have that aren't based on evidence. I assume you do the same.
