2020 General Election Predictions
One prediction:
If this coronavirus epidemic in China becomes a real pandemic, every argument Trump has made for economic nationalism and controlled borders will become widely adopted, and the current democratic positions on these issues will become a pariah.
Imagine what the open borders argument is going to sound like to the average American where there is a similar epidemic in Mexico and we have no idea how many of the infected are fleeing across our border. "Undocumented migrant" would lose it's Orwellian euphemistic value real fast.

Re: 2020 General Election Predictions
My prediction for this national election:
Iowas' low turn out was an indicator of what the DNC is going to see at a national level.
- If the party nominates Sanders, the young energized voters will be elated but still turn out in low numbers. Older moderate/classical liberals (the base) will sit this one out. The full tilt to socialism/communism scares the shit out of them and (though they will never admit it openly) the economy is doing great and they don't want to do an immediate 180 back the other way now. They remember and lost a vast fortune in investments and retirements during the Obama years and are not willing to lose it again for some 80 year fuck head career politician telling the kids he'll rob you blind once he gets in office.
- If the party nominates anyone else other than Sanders, I fully expect to see "Milwaukee burn" scenario play out at a national level. Pissed off communists will ensure the other nominee will have to fight them as well as Trump, if not more. Most Sanders supporters will either sit it out or vote third party just to stick it to them.
Honestly, the best thing the DNC can do is call a mulligan on the 2020 POTUS race and concentrate on the congressional/state races and find their path for 2024.
*Side prediction - If Sanders doesn't win, look for him to run as a third-party candidate (which he always was) as a giant middle finger to the DNC for "stealing" his candidacy twice.

Interesting view. Honestly I didn't put the two things together. Trumps going to have a field day with that. Of course the MSM will call if "fear-mongering". If he does mention this watch the MSM reports of Coronavirus disappear or get toned down to the point of "corona is nothing worse than a common cold".Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 6:11 amOne prediction:

If this goes pandemic, it could be the end of globalism as we know it.AverageJoe wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 6:48 amInteresting view. Honestly I didn't put the two things together. To get a real grasp on how fucked we could be, consider that everything we need to mitigate this pandemic is made in China. The drugs. The masks. Hand sanitizer. Soap.
The global supply chain began shutting down two days ago when global corporations ceased operations in mainland China.
The shortages you are seeing in China for these supplies are going to be that much worse for us.
Globalism was always a really bad idea. Doing shit just because it is "economically efficient" was stupid as fuck the whole time.
And you know this is going to devastate Latin America if it breaks out of Asia. How the fuck are we going to stop the mass migrations of coronavirus carriers with no border wall??
The entire anti-Trump platform is fucking done if this goes pandemic. The entire globalist democratic party platform is poison. Nobody is going to vote for a borderless, disease infested rest stop for dindus.

Now.. the possibility of democratic candidates catching it while campaigning in the busiest part of the democratic primary.. that could be a really fucked turn of events.
Maybe they will just call off the whole thing until after the pandemic.

I predict we see the first viable third-party candidate this year.
