Re-voting every time you don't get the desired result is not democracy.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 4:54 amVoting for a lie is not democracy.
Now the lie has been exposed the democratic thing to do is have another referendum.
Brexit was sold as a way to make a better deal with the EU than we currently have. Nigel Garbage kept repeating that we could get a ''Norway plus'' deal.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Win at all costs and fuck the truth.
Your version of democracy sucks.
Just a reminder,
NO ONE VOTED FOR A NO DEAL BREXIT

God, what a moronic thing to say. Take responsibility for your vote or don’t vote at all. If you vote from a position of ignorance, the outcome of the vote isn’t invalidated.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

Your version of democracy doesn't exist. I simply acknowledge reality, instead of putting my head in the sand and pretending it will be different, if I just wish hard enough, that they didn't lie.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 5:11 amWin at all costs and fuck the truth.

I don't know why, but that dumbass slogan really annoys the shit out of me. I need to stop responding to "we are a republic not a democracy" idiocy.BjornP wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 4:51 amA representative democracy isn't "called a republic". Denmark has a representative democracy and we are not a republic. You are a republic and a representative democracy and we are a constitutional monarchy and a representative democracy. The Conservative wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 2:44 amThat is called a Republic. False dichotomy. A republic and a democracy are not opposing things, nor something that cannot exist alongside one another in one country. The "America is not a democracy, it's a republic" bullshit, is just that.
You are a democracy. A representative democracy. Same as most other democracies in the world.
And it's the only constitutional republic in the world as far as I know.Republic:
noun
A state in which supreme power is held by the people and their representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.
Those who say the US is a Democracy is attempting to rewrite history.
The United States is a republic *and* a democracy. UK is a monarchy and a democracy. North Korea is a republic and a communist state.
If you want to take the mantle to correct this meme, then my all means take it. I am too tired to deal with it, and the people who continue to say it are generally the kind of ignorant that doesn't want to admit they are wrong even when you throw a dictionary at them.

There is a massive difference between ignorance and deliberate misinformation.
Besides which, no one voted for a no-deal Brexit. We were told that we would leave with a better deal than we currently have. This has been shown to be completely untrue. All bets are off.

Re: Europe, Boring Until it's Not
Plenty of people voted for a no-deal Brexit. You will have a better deal, it will just take more time, because the EU wants to shoot themselves in the foot to spite you. Deliberate misinformation occurs in every fucking election, that doesn't invalidate the results, just because you can prove lies were told.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 5:19 amThere is a massive difference between ignorance and deliberate misinformation.
