A Republic is simply voting based on geography. (I slam a homer on FB every time someone tries to make the distinction.)

There is no such thing as a direct democracy concerning most government policies that count. Brexit being the outlier there.

Brexit has been fascinating. A 2% margin, OMG. Democracy sucks.

Direct democracy would have never seen the 1965 immigration act passed by the kike LBJ

The fact that democracy has so many close votes shows how flawed a process it is.

Direct democracy has never been tried. Populism is poison for the plutocrats

Not even the same as lil Adolph. Hitler suspended constitutional protections. Then the German parliament passed the Enabling Act later. It's a poor analogy when you compare it to Hitler and then you go on to say what Boris did is normal for the British government.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 5:44 pmFunny you should say that.
Old one ball suspended the German Parliament and parallels are being drawn...
Not that a new government temporarily suspending Parliament is unconstitutional. It's perfectly normal for this to happen but what is clearly fuckery is the timing. The plan is to stop Parliament from passing a law to make a no-deal Brexit illegal by leaving only a week before the October 31st deadline to leave the EU.
It is a risky strategy though as it almost guarantees a vote of no confidence and a general election which is most likely to remove the Conservative party from power and instal Comrade Corbyn as supreme leader.
A Labour government or more likely a coalition government of Labour, Scottish Nationals, Liberal Democrats and the Greens will result in a second referendum.
This may well turn out to be a case of Boris shooting himself in the foot.

I hear that canard all the time: every local election is geographic-based direct democracy.TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 10:06 pmDirect democracy has never been tried. Populism is poison for the plutocrats
