Wanting more accountability doesn't have to mean being naive enough to think you can get it. Making rules against politicians lying is not going to stop them from lying, it's useless virtue signaling. Misleading voters to believe something you want them to believe is what politicians do, if it surprises you that it's part of the game, then you don't know shit about politics.

Expecting politicians not to act like politicians is asinine and counter-productive.
