Ah, you think it was the lack of hate speech laws that led to the Holocaust, not those other laws, that turned them into first second-class untermenschen, then confiscated their property, then turned them into outright slaves, then into ashes? You don't think it mattered that it was the government that directed the villification itself?Montegriffo wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 12:45 pmI'm sure Goebbels said just the same about all those snowflake Jews complaining about being vilified.Kath wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 12:33 pmI'm getting pretty offended by all the people needing to feel offended all the time. It's becoming a way of life for some people. I can't imagine a life filled with searching through every syllable, looking for a way to proclaim how offended I am.
How about we just let assholes be assholes?
If someone offends you, you simply need to stop listening, watching, reading or having tea with that person. Your problem is instantly solved.
I mean, what's the worst thing that could happen when you allow racists to preach their hate without consequence?
The US has had laws that allowed for villifying Jews for over a century...and yet, there's been no American Holocaust... odd, that. It's almost as if you need more than just a few bigots speaking bigotry to turn a whole country into Nazi Germany 2.0.
