I'm getting pretty offended by all the people needing to feel offended all the time. It's becoming a way of life for some people. I can't imagine a life filled with searching through every syllable, looking for a way to proclaim how offended I am.

Once a real crime has been committed, the law must get involved. Your more likely criminal is the quiet guy over there, stewing in his hate & rage. I've been having this conversation since the late 70s, when the Nazis wanted to march in Skokie. We had a huge conversation on it, on the radio, on tv, in the newspapers, at school, etc.

The argument was very similar to yours. "Seeing a swastika is no different than being physically assaulted." The Illinois Supreme Court said, "No. Not really." They got their permit.

I landed where I am today. Words should never be criminalized.

So what, you should only prosecute speeding drivers if they cause an accident?
You shouldn't stop crazy gunmen taking assault rifles into schools until after they start shooting?
Can you not think of any examples of stopping a minor crime to prevent a much bigger crime?
