But in the Lucktocracy you work exponentially harder than I do.
But because I received a sizable inheritance, which was entirely due to land speculation, I can make money without working at all.

Dude, we hand out six-figure college loans here like they’re candy. Our banks toss out mortgage loans like they’re on fire. Anyone with a business idea can hit up half a dozen go-fund-me type sites and get capital. Unsigned artists can leverage YouTube for exposure and earn money for views. Unpublished writers can hit up Amazon and connect directly with buyers.
It takes quite a bit before you can quit your job.DBTrek wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 2:57 pmDude, we hand out six-figure college loans here like they’re candy. If you can’t get capital in America it’s because you’re retarded, not unlucky.
Sure ... but peep this - my grandmother had greedy children. She owned two houses in Sierra Madre, CA back in the 40s. She passed them on to uncles and aunts that simply squandered that value. You have any idea how many millions that property is worth right now? Ah well, bad luck.
If it's completely undeveloped wilderness, prolly about $750,000
Developed, residential, a bit East of Astoria.
I'd say about $500,000 per acre, so about $50 million or so.
Ouch. My mom's family had money. They bought a high end player piano in the middle of The Depression. (Still in the family.) It had to be split by boatloads of kids, so my grandmother got a bit, but it didn't trickle very far; someone got fiscally irresponsible somewhere along the way. Plus there was some family fighting over the last bit of it when my great uncle died. My mom got nothing, even though he raised her. That feud lasted over 10 years.
