...through massive government subsidies at the local, state, and federal levels, yes.

He gets free land, tax breaks for each location he builds “to attract jobs”, no state sales tax u til recently, and federal breaks of every kind that small businesses don’t.

The same small businesses that he’s replaced by the tens of thousands.

I’m not sure that I even want to go back to local retailers for everything, but don’t pretend that this just happened this fast without government interference.

I’d support a scheme that links pay for everyone else in a company to management compensation.

My work offers shares at 50% of the listed price - salary sacrificed so the money comes out before tax.

2.5K of my untaxed money each year, and 2.5K of their money each year gives me plenty of incentive to make sure the place makes money, and them plenty of incentive to help me do it. Seems like a win/win to me, rather than bankrupting a place that has mouth breathers that only turn up for a paycheck, and really couldn't care if the company goes balls up 5 years from now.

And nobody is making them do it. They just see the sense in the buy in. They'll get more out of the staff there that way than a buck or so pay rise (67c after the govt takes its cut, of course).

What do I care that the owner is a multi billionaire making more money in an hour than I do in a year? I'm going to retire on a good wicket, and life is pretty good right now.

Jeff Bezos hustled, finagled financiers, paid his workers with borrowed cash, for FIVE years before seeing any profit. He busted his ass for FOURTEEN years before seeing a net quarterly profit.

Which of his workers did that? Which of them made the sacrifices and lifetime investment that entitles them to more of Jeff’s share?

Sure, the government subsidizes some of the biz through low postal rates (NOT taking more tax money isn’t subsidizing). That should stop. Government also subsidized something like 48% of American households, that should also stop.

Jeff earned his. He built a company that created a plethora of high paying jobs, and a multitude of low paying jobs, by perpetually risking his financial health and investing almost a decade and a half of his lifespan into before seeing a net quarterly profit.

Now all the Dems and the do-nothings are bitching that he got too much reward, and they’re all entitled to a bigger share for no reason beyond “shit ain’t fair”.

Taking the shit you didn’t earn ain’t fair. You want Jeff’s cash, go earn it.
