Castration is not a necessity by any means. Getting a female neutered is often necessary because females are fucking awful when they are in heat and nobody wants vaginal blood all over the house.

Well over a million dogs & cats get euthanized in shelters every year. The only reason this number is so LOW, is due to fixing pets who we don't plan to breed. Un-fixed, two cats can become 10,000 in 10 years.

Not sure what the rate is for dogs, but has to be similar, because they also have large litters.

Eating rabbits can give a dog worms anyway.
Best to shoot the little pests and make some rabbit and leek pie.

Just give the dogs ground up pumpkin seeds, gets rid of worms.

Convenience? The employees at animal shelters who have to euthanize over a million healthy animals each year, due to lack of ability to care for them (space, food, personnel,) don't find it convenient at all. These people absolutely hate that part of their job.
