NPs don’t need Dr supervision.

The big problem isn’t preventive care, and it’s not stitches or broken bones. It’s chronic stuff, like HTN, diabetes, liver & kidney disease, CHF, etc. Super-expensive drugs that have to be taken every day, and reoccuring hospital visits.

I’ve only worked with the poor so, except for my own care, I don’t know what kind of service you guys get?

NPs don’t need Dr supervision.
They do in 29 states.

It’s crazy that Naturopathy, Chiropractic, acupuncture & massage therapy, which are total quackery, are covered by Heath Insurance. There’s some huge costs right there.

Chiropractic is quackery? I have had good results with mine. Mostly just physical therapy - stretches, and message with the electrical thing.

This is the crux of the problem: Americans have expectations and vested interests not amenable to cost-cutting.

I agree it's quackery, but I'd bet it's really a drop in the bucket compared to $1M per year medications, $2k a pop imaging, $100k procedures and $10k/day hospital stays. And we all know the real meat is in the end of life care, but that's untouchable because seniors vote.

It’s a natural monopoly. I’ve made the point many times. The demagoguery around healthcare is impenetrable.

We need to start a 2yr certification program for licensed ‘shamans’ who perform services consummate with combat medics for reasonable cash or trade.

Broken arm? Shaman can fix that. Concussion? Shaman can help. Non-lethal bullet wound? Shaman is on it. Flu? Shaman has your OTC meds right here.

Stage 2 cancer? Go to the hospital.
ERs are already staffed with NPs and PAs; you only see a Dr if SHTF, and several States already allow NPs to see patients. The problem is that since insurance is covering it, why choose an NP? In fact, a lot of insurances won’t cover NPs. The problem isn’t medicine, and it’s not supply, it’s systemic. But voters only elect Aristrocrat-makers or Socialists, no place for in-between solutions.
I was under the impression the bigger problem was states that require any NP or PA to be under the direct supervision of a doctor. Same reason you have to go to a dentist's office to get your teeth cleaned, not a walk in teeth cleaning clinic.

As for healthcare rationing, we already have it in myriad ways. Everything from the utterly uninsured to high deductible catastrophic "insurance" is a form of rationing.
Your funny.

I’ve been to the Dr. over a dozen times, and the ER probably as many. I’ve only seen my Dr. twice in all those times.

Otherwise, nope. NP or PA.

My insurance is Basically emergency care and it costs about $1000 a month in Mass.
