Truth be told, the Soviets were probably more brutal an inhuman than the Nazi's. Our popular history doesn't remember it that way. The Danes going neutral in WWII was probably the best decision by the government for it's citizens.
Oh, I know what you were doing. ;)

I don't begrudge the Soviets their brutality when it comes to their treatment of Germans, even the civilians. Brutality begets brutality, harsh injustice needs be met with harsh justice. The Germans literally considered, and treated not just Russians but all Slavs as "untermenschen". The nice, civilized and decent treatment way Western POVs were granted, was not granted to the civilians or soldiers Germany fought and dominated in the East. When you embrace collectively treating a people as barbaric as the Germans did, you open yourself and all your people up to, to be treated - justly - as barbarically.

Well, the Danish government did sign a non-aggression agreement with Germany in 1939. Fat load of good that did. We'd have lost no matter what since we did not have any allies and our economy and military was a joke, but I'd like to think we could have given the Norwegians a little more time to prepare their defense.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

The only real chance of resistence the Danes had was if the British Navy was willing to have surround the peninsula. My guess is, they could have hit any inland target in Denmark from the sea. But that would have been a big gamble for the Brits and they had to focus on channel defense.

Scandinavia is not a theatre that gets much attention in the history books, but there were a lot of interesting things going on.

The Soviets and Nazi's deserved each other.

The RN would have been destroyed by Nazi air power if they had tried.
They put up a better fight for Norway and sunk a few German ships but the lightly armed troops they put ashore were never more than a speed bump against the German invasion. They did allow time for the Norweigan royal family to escape and show that they were willing to fight but not much else.
Norway still sends us a Christmas tree for Trafalgar Square every year as a thank you.
This is this year's.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

England may as well fly the ISIS flag over Big Ben.

The Danes fought a six hour war against the Germans, Carlus. Six hours.

A more reasoned report from the Daily Mail (I never thought I would utter that phrase)

Denmark has a land border with Germany, fighting to the death was pointless.

OK hero, tell me what would have been achieved by fighting to the death, apart from a lot of death?

Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

Surrendering to the Nazis meant certain death for a lot of people, Monty.
