Trump had a great line last night but the crowd was too dumb to pick up on it.
When he said "we are the 'experts' in here" the crowd should have gone crazy. They were slow on the uptake though.

Personally, I think it's just a vengeful, violent minority that is OK with this. They are Weather Underground type people. The leftover violent radicals from the 60's are pulling the strings here and making this shit happen. It's their glory days all over again, 1969, the Summer of Violence.
Their subtext is Trump is worse than Nixon, we will do to Trump what we did to Nixon. We will blame all the failings of the previous POTUS on this guy, make him a scapegoat for daring to disrupt our agenda.

Because they're our educated "betters", and it's their burden to do the right thing for the rest of we stupid proles who are simply too uneducated and common to understand the nuances of life, history, politics, and art as well as they.
I believe that's the prevailing sentiment among college faculty, right?
I agree. I love nothing more than debating College Profs, wifes uncle retired as an Anthropology Prof at NAU. He can't handle friendly, vigorous debate. And it's not that I'm a brilliant Meta-human, but I do observe and I can use Inductive Reasoning.
Inductive Reasoning really fucks em up, because they are always starting from their predetermined hypothesis and trying to prove it.
Induction can easily become fallacious, though. You need to use more sophisticated heuristics, like the scientific method, to avoid the induction fallacy. The academics who use induction a lot (aside from the scientific method) I found were liberal arts people, and a lot of that stuff is pure nonsense. It's probably not comfortable for him to engage in that, and his opposition has more to do with ideoloigical intolerance.
The average actual academic (not the fakes like you find in gender studies) can reason just fine, but they cannot tolerate your worldview. It's not that they can't understand your argument but that they hate you personally.
To be white male, or not to be white male, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of outrageous white privilege,
Or to take Arms against the patriarchy,
And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep
No more; and by a sleep, to say we end
The Mansplaining, and the thousand Natural shocks
That white privilege is heir to?

I got ya, it's not the only tool, but rather the tool that causes Profs the most trouble when debating them. It goes back to what Hash the Polymath has said about debating the Left. Don't let them set the framework for the debate. (I've embraced this attitude). See, the Lefties have their hypothesis, consider it proven and it it's tantamount to law. But Inductive reasoning allows you to pin prick them to a thousand deaths. It changes the argument. IMO
