On the contrary, he will do the opposite. He won't try to stop anything, but likely will want more tougher measures against the Syrians. Trump will stand in front of his generals and cherish the moment of being to commander in chief.kybkh wrote:At least we will get to put this limited conflict theory to the test.
Trump played like a puppet. The media cornered him as some type of Russian confederate and now if he were to stand in front of the generals and try to stop this escalation he'd be strung up for sure until Pepe and the boys got there.
See hereEzra Cohen-Watnick, the senior director for intelligence on the National Security Council, and Derek Harvey, the NSC’s top Middle East advisor, want the United States to start going on the offensive in southern Syria … Their plans are making even traditional Iran hawks nervous, including Defense Secretary James Mattis, who has personally shot down their proposals more than once, the two sources said … Despite the more aggressive stance pushed by some White House officials, Mattis, military commanders and top U.S. diplomats all oppose opening up a broader front against Iran and its proxies in southeastern Syria, viewing it as a risky move that could draw the United States into a dangerous confrontation with Iran, defense officials said. Such a clash could trigger retaliation against U.S. troops deployed in Iraq and Syria, where Tehran has armed thousands of Shiite militia fighters and deployed hundreds of Revolutionary Guard officers.

Well nothing lasts forever, but I don't see how it's on a clock per se, how does that work? Who is counting down? Hold on, let me just check the big board... nope, DEFCON 5, 15 minutes notice to launch, I'm not seeing any countdown here, what are you seeing?GrumpyCatFace wrote:There has to be a reaolution at some point. Do you think we might see some limited engagement in Syria?Smitty-48 wrote:Well nothing lasts forever, but I don't see how it's on a clock per se, how does that work? Who is counting down? Strangers things have happened, no? It's gone beyond proxy already, you're both right there, within spitting distance of each other, putting ordinance down all over the place, in the same AO. Shooting each other's proxies up, while you're both in the room with them.kybkh wrote:Do you think we might see some limited engagement in Syria?Smitty-48 wrote:Well nothing lasts forever, but I don't see how it's on a clock per se, how does that work? I think Otern's got it basically right, America has the upper hand, no doubt, but how many pilots are you prepared to have in the Hanoi Hilton? Because the Russians would definitely get their shots in.Hard to imagine it being a 2 hit fight. Us hitting a Su-27 and the Su-27 hitting the ground or vice-versa. Certainly from the American side if a F-15 is hit with an S-300 the least you'd expect is immediate retaliatory airstrikes/cruise missiles on that AA position.
