Mine didn't like the nipples either. You might try poultry cups, mine took to them right away. Drill some holes in a 5 or 2.5 gallon bucket and install 2 or 3 of these and you are in like Flynn.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 2:07 pmWe tried nipple waterers but the chickens don’t like them so far. I’ll try it again for a day when they go in the tractor.
Otherwise 2-gal waterer on the ground.

Whew it’s been a busy spring. First batch of meat birds are off to freezer camp (28 total).
I tossed the gut buckets out back and listened to a million coyotes fighting over it last night. As of today, this is all that’s left.

Re: Preparing for Uncertainty and Self Reliance
Took a trip out to Amish country today. Scored a gallon of real milk from a housewife for $1.
Found feed and grain for less than half the price of TSC.
Talked to a couple guys about buying a cow.
Watched a man cutting hay with a team of 2 Clydesdales.
Walked through barns and saw beautiful children playing barefoot in the grass.
What an amazing resource having these people nearby. I can tell you - if the world falls apart, they will be just fine.

Grain prices on the rise.
Wheat prices are rising due to the end of the Ukraine grain deal. Putin is also in the process of destroying the Odessa shipping docks so the Ukraine will not be able to ship wheat through the Black Sea.
India has instituted a Rice Export ban, this has led to panic buying in the US. Texas worst hit.
Grain price increases will also lead to higher livestock feed prices. Heads up chicken herders.
Beef prices have been creeping up, and will be very expensive next year. My brother sold his Fall Steers already for $2.69 a pound on the hoof, that's nearly a full dollar more a pound than last year.

Perhaps we shouldn't be using food as car fuel... I dunno... we could grow enough wheat to not give a shit what happens worldwide if we did that.C-Mag wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 2:44 pmGrain prices on the rise.

Rice is a good thing to have in bulk, almost everyone eats it, easy to store, doesn't go bad.
The constant economic pressure on average folks by Bidenomics is starting to break people.
Google search data for "pawn shop near me." The search trend started surging in January and exploded higher in the last few months to record highs just days ago.
