Having your weapons and weapon components made oversees is stupid for any nation that has the resources to do it themselves. The MBAs and PHDs from the Ivy League that make up are Deep State are functionally idiots. They can spend money, lives and weapons like crazy, but have no idea of the logistics involved in creating money, lives and weapons. Oh they can ship those resources around the globe just in time. But they can only move them and spend them, not create.

I agree with everything except for the bold. Both the West and Russia are going to come out of this war as losers. Russia came into this war from a position of weakness in a desperate move to get stronger. They will be coming out of this war in a position of weakness, with maybe just a slight acceleration of the future that was already known. The West on the other hand came in as the undisputed super power of the world, and got out maneuvered by Russia at every turn. That is a far bigger loss than what Russia will face. Russia has proven that Europe is reliant on Russia. That is a huge loss for the West, but will have consequences that will result in a loss for Russia too.

because their source of Russian oil was a project built and run by Western oil companies

who no longer operate in Russia

the Russians lack the capability to run them on their own

both Europe and China

are going lose access to a lot of oil and gas

because of this war

China is already getting as much oil from Russia as Russia has the infrastructure to send them

so they can only get less not more

until Russia builds more infrastructure which will take years to build

I'm arguing against claims that Russia is winning

either this war, or in the geopolitical fallout from this war

when it's getting it's ass kicked in both

they are losing on all fronts militarily, economically and diplomatically

obvious bad idea is obvious

trying to make it seem like a good idea
