Interesting, I had never heard of the Khanate of Kokand before. By the map it looks like modern Kazakhstan. This is when the Ottoman Empire was figuring out it was really falling behind because of Wahhabi influence that refused to allow the industrial revolution to take foothold in the empire. It would be a great setting for a historical fiction novel.GloryofGreece wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 11:51 am
I think you'd enjoy this (as would some others). Read it, if not subscribe.

In all this Ukraine stuff, the attempted coup in Khazakstan has been forgotten, But from what I've gathered their version of the Sec of State, backed by Western governments attempted a Color Revolution and it was put down.

Russia has nothing to lose.
Russia is saying the Western nations just stole it, and it probably went to Western Oligarchs and politicians

The world holds by this chart: 61.6% of all of Russia's gold...
That means Russia should have 38.4%. not 21.7... that means 16.7% is where? The rest of the world?

The Biden administration would not oppose Ukraine becoming a “neutral” nation and swearing off NATO membership if that’s what Kyiv agreed to in a peace deal, Blinken said Tuesday.

I agree with everything except for the bold. Both the West and Russia are going to come out of this war as losers. Russia came into this war from a position of weakness in a desperate move to get stronger. They will be coming out of this war in a position of weakness, with maybe just a slight acceleration of the future that was already known. The West on the other hand came in as the undisputed super power of the world, and got out maneuvered by Russia at every turn. That is a far bigger loss than what Russia will face. Russia has proven that Europe is reliant on Russia. That is a huge loss for the West, but will have consequences that will result in a loss for Russia too.StCapps wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 3:53 amRussia put way too many chips on the table for UkraineTheOneX wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 6:18 pmYeah, the West really put way too many chips on the table for Ukraine. You haven’t been paying attention. There are no sanctions on Russian gas/energy. The EU realized they were slitting their own throats and backed off.
Then Putin demanded payment in rubles and they caved.
This is no longer a western-driven world. He won.

Russia has lost far more than the West has

Wait and see is really how the rest of this is going to have to play out.
