Nah dude. Buy in bulk. Get a quarter beef, or a side. Stuff your freezer for the whole year.
Yeah, local market up here want $700 for ¼ of a cow. Not worth it.
Local place around here is boasting they have had the same price for the last 5 years $2 cheaper than the price shown above.
Local around here isn't like local near you. The average price for meat around here for local steak is $20-$30/lb, depending on the cut.
It's not common sense pricing.
They claim it's because it's grass-fed and humanity treated.
I call bullshit and they are now just being able to justify their prices by not having to raise their prices because of “meat shortages” elsewhere.
I said find a farmer. Not a market.
Do some googling for an outfit like this:
https://daltonfarmsllc.com/index.html#/
$700 is about 3.50/lb. You’re getting a shit ton of meat for that.
Our local farmers sell straight to market. That is why there it a $2.00 difference in raw meat prices between the two.
Oh and $700 for ¼ a cow maybe 3.50 for your cow... That's not how it works here. That it $750 for at most 10 boxes for a season. A break down of specific cuts that wont go beyond $70 a box total. Most people spend $150 on a box and have it delivered three to four times a season.
We in Mass know how to fuck up a good thing.

I don’t even know what you’re talking about…. You bought a 1/4 cow, the butcher cuts it up and packages it, and that’s it. It’s like a dozen steaks, ribs, 30lb of ground beef, and all the extras.
I get 4-5 boxes of meat and it’s enough for 6 months (with 4 kids).
You need to find a farmer. FARMER.

Yeah, that's what you'd think isn't it? But the “farms” around here has the “Butcher Box” mentality.
Like I said, if they can, mass finds a way to fuck it up.

I agree, but my wife is worried about the education our son would get out there.

You and your wife are the best educators your son will ever have.
Personally I don't trust any government product right now, not Covid numbers, not inflation numbers, not what they are teaching kids.

Have been using them pre-pandemic. Still would rather have a more solid foundation.

That’s on you, as a parent. Fill in the gaps.
