I’ve been through these school board elections several time. One of my (ex) friends was president of the school board for 16 years. Voters don’t know who they’re voting for so whoever the Teacher’s Union backs, that’s who wins.

Most people (99%) don’t even know what district they’re in. Unless the candidate has a huge (church?) constituency, there’s no way to break out.

I've been in every school board meeting as the beginning of this pandemic scam... people know my name in the school committee, and the parents also know me by name, and face...

If I wasn't moving, I would be going for the position myself. I was one of the reasons the "president" of the school board stepped down... He was doing the job for 30 years...there is a replacement right now, and I hope he does better, but like hell he is going to make it past an election cycle.

Can't remember who of this group enlightened me years ago with the statement,

Case in point:

Maybe a thread is necessary as an add-on to the only rule of ECON 201 you really need to learn: Whatever we subsidize, we get more of.

When we lose sight of the basic rule, the big thing that bites us on the ass is "moral hazard."

Recent discussions about UBI, state "healthcare," &c., are all good case studies about moral hazard.

In economics, moral hazard occurs when one person takes more risks because someone else bears the cost of those risks.

Montana: CRT is unconstitutional and illegal in Montana
In an Attorney General’s Opinion, which carries the weight of law in Montana, Mr. Knudsen said school districts, government entities and employers could lose grant funding or be liable for damages for treating students and employees differently based on race.

The opinion came in response to a May 12 request from Montana Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen, who asked for guidance on the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed grant priorities for advancing racial equity that cite antiracism guru Ibram X. Kendi and the 1619 Project..........................

His opinion listed three prohibited categories: racial segregation, race stereotyping and race scapegoating, saying they violate state and federal civil-rights laws “because they constitute racial harassment and/or require authority figures to engage in activities that result in different treatment on the basis of race.”
