Is LINUX a viable option to stop subsidizing big tech and keep them from spying on you ?
To an extent. Just remember if it's open-source, government has the ability to find ways in without you realizing it.
That is less likely than proprietary code where they can ask for a backdoor to be coded into the system. With open source they would need to at least hack into the system, which is much more difficult, and always has the risk of being patched in the next release. Remember the alternatives have a history of working closely with both the US and Chinese governments.
Think cynically. Think the most unlikely of aspects, and there is a chance someone in power has it in motion.

You are missing the point, Linux is almost certainly more secure from government intrusion than Windows or Mac. That does not mean it is secure from government intrusion, but you at least know that the government has to actually put effort into accessing your computer.

I keep saying: if you’re running away from government surveillance, you’re not going to get far; stand and fight, mutterfukkers.

Already, since I cut off ties with Commies, 2 of my neighbors have held out an olive branch; but we did that, they won. Fucking Commies kicked our asses all over town by being asses. I’ll show them assholeness.

Yes. And put Graphene on your smartphone.
Compile yourself then verify hash code.

In all honesty - you have to assume the government has access to any machine that touches the internet.
The question didn't mention government. I thought he wanted to stop big tech from mining your data and making money of it. The biggest threat to liberty comes from Silicon Valley, not DC.

There is no difference between the two in the US.
