Ex-felons can vote in most states, including the most conservative.

I think Kentucky, Virginia, and Iowa are the only exceptions. Not sure it is really a 'left' position.
The left position is, and always will be - we should exalt and assist the losers above the performers at all times.
Felons are just one example. On a planet of 8 billion, there are probably more worthy groups to be hand-wringing over than felons, transgenders, non-citizens, and third generation welfare families.

Successful, healthy societies tend to focus on rewarding the performers and encouraging excellence from their members. It's the sick, dying societies that start suggesting that limited resources should be stripped from the performers and divided among the pariahs. "Liquidate the kulaks"! But that's where the Dems are at. More important to have men-in-dresses shitting next to your daughters in the restroom than to protect your national borders. More important to cancel PE classes and teach hate-whitey versions of history in school than to foster competition and have our children feel positively about themselves and their nation.

The left is, and always has been, about punishing the winners to elevate the losers.
Still is.
Most of that stuff wasn't on the ballot in CA - but prop 16 failed, which was the only explicitly 'anti-racist' (in the mold of Ibram X. Kendi) measure on the ballot, as did the attempt to ratchet up the property taxes on businesses and expand rent control.

I'd say, all in all, not a successful election year for the elevation of losers in CA.
Reports I've heard say that the wording of the proposition caused people to be confused and vote in a way they didn't expect. They have to dumb it down for their slaves. It'll pass eventually, even if it is just called "Prop 26: Yo' rent be goin' down."

Yeah, people do like to argue that voters are too stupid to vote in their own interest.

I've never really bought it.

Me neither. Especially since I've only heard it from Dems, aimed at me.

I'd say some actually are. It's a spectrum.

I think most people are smart enough to vote in their best interest when they are well informed. Unfortunately, the vast majority of voters are not well informed. Most just vote for the party that is culturally dominant where they want to live.

Progressives tried to cram their measures on this ballot because they believed the highly suspect folk-wisdom that higher voter turn-out leads to leftist electoral victories.

In a high turn-out, presidential election year, they couldn't get their agenda passed.

That is where I usually hear it too. Always thought it was a bunch of nonsense.

I really think leftists exemplify the path to hell being paved with good intentions. It's not that the poor or downtrodden should be despised. They should, in fact, be uplifted when possible and appropriate. There's no virtue in shitting on the homeless or ostracizing gay people. But leftists ... bless their dumb little hearts ... think the answer is to FORCE other people through government coercion, to "be nice". They aren't content to let individuals help the needy that they know. They aren't content to let the able volunteer their time, services, and expertise toward helping others. Nope. They need the government to MAKE you do it ... "for the good of humanity", of course.

And it doesn't take long for that ethos to quickly transform into "Your privileged-ass won't take another tax hike to subsidize another drug-infested homeless city near the preschool? Well, I guess it's time we eat the rich!"

It goes from "help the needy", to "do what the fuck we say, believe what we believe, and support what we support or suffer the consequences" relatively fast, every damn time. It always starts with the doe-eyed bleeding heart dopes convincing themselves that they're doing good, and ends in enormous evil.

How many times, people? How many times we fucking learning this lesson before we get it?

Also, we’ve entered Phase II of the Plan. COVID cases are suddenly ‘exploding’ for no reason. Stay home. Don’t get uppity.

They're exploding so Joe can institute the lockdowns, so we can implode economically, so they can get buddy-buddy with the World Economic Forum's Great Reset. Gotta crash that economy first.
