When Biden was expected to be terrible, he could have pissed his pants and the media would have said he crushed it.

Here's the Summary
It was contentious, for sure; but here is a quick summary of the performance:
SCOTUS - Trump won by TKO
COVID - Biden won, but close.
Economy - A tie
Race - A tie (Trump facts on Biden's history versus Biden repetitive claims Trump's a racist but no gotcha)
Law And Order - Trump won (Biden unable to get past 'defund' and reform)
Track Records - Trump won (Biden unable to get past Green New Deal malarkey)
Election Integrity - A tie (but we might have given Trump the edge on Coup/recent ballots issues)
Overall, Biden did a lot better than many expected but on policies and straightforward facts, Trump won the first debate comfortably.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer made it clear what the goal was:
“Clearly this is the most chaotic presidential debate that I have ever seen. That most of you have ever seen I suspect. ... I wouldn’t be surprised by the way if this was the last presidential debate between the president of the United States and the former vice president of the United States but we will see.”

2-1 with Hispanics
Telemundo’s Spanish-speaking TV viewers reported two-to-one that Donald Trump won the combative presidential debate on Tuesday night.

Clearly they are probably too scared to even attempt letting Joe back on a debate stage anytime soon.C-Mag wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:00 pmCNN’s Wolf Blitzer made it clear what the goal was:

Re: 2020 General Election Predictions
I watched it with my wife last night, and it was surprisingly combative, which I'm for.
I didn't vote for Trump so he could go to Washington and pretend to be a politician. This is exactly the kind of chaos I want. If Trump had been a good boy and stayed silent while the other side was talking, he'd be fighting not only against Biden, but against whatever moderator they trot out. He would've been getting slammed from two sides. His interrupting and combativeness made Chris Wallace not get in as many cheap shots.
Biden's entire strategy seemed to be, "Hi America. It's me, your Uncle Joe. Would you like a Werther's Original? Now, I know you're hurting, but I have a plan to make sure that nothing bad ever happens again as long as you listen to me." It made me sick. Unrealistic bullcrap.
This debate wasn't about policy, for me. I already know I'm not voting for someone who wants to explicitly disenfranchise whites, so anything Joe says I'm not going to believe, based on the other crap he's said that is explicitly against my interests.
For the Hispanics, Trump is channeling the Caudillo archetype. Strongmen work will with Hispanics.

Nice; had to Google that.
I couldn’t watch the debate. I’ve always been repelled by live combative argument; I’d rather read 2 paragraphs per candidate answering questions. Calling people names is way, way down on my list.

That debate didn't change anyones mind. Biden won by not loosing. Trump might win anyway in the end but it would have been good for his chances if Biden had been weaker. Wallace did a terrible job. Probably according to plan.

Not fair to blame Wallace - it’s hard to control kids when their over tired and it’s after 8:00 pm.
Why can’t Donald just STFU and let Joe hang himself?

Re: 2020 General Election Predictions
Last night is still soaking in...like a pool of blood on a carpet.
I still think Trump looked more unprofessional than he had to in order to get his points across.
He brought up Hunter too many times. Use it once, make the point and move on. You are not going to get Joe to admit to the 3.5 million Russia payout no matter how many times you repeat it.
Trump missed a lot of opportunities. When Wallace asked abut denouncing white supremacists he should have first asked Chris to clarify who he thinks are white supremacists. Also should have mentioned that he declared both Antifa and the KK a terror groups just days earlier. He failed to bring up the historically low black and Hispanic unemployment. With the SCOTUS issue he should have not only said they have the right, but the duty and obligation to fill the seat as part of their job. Way too many chances to look really good. This is the time to reach people who don't normally follow politics.
The more I think about it, the worse I think Wallace was. His questions included baiting like the white supremacist one. His bias showed more and more as the debate went on. My opinion of him went down to zero with the rest of the MSM liars last night.
Joe looked better than I hoped. I wanted to see more non-sensical rambling. Trump may have bailed him out by constantly interrupting and letting Joe collect his thoughts and keep to short responses. Joe had a number of lies, but the MSM won't call them out. Knowing that Joe could say anything and not get checked on it was a sad realization for me last night. In 2016 there was still some hope of at least a certain level of fairness. The only real fact checks on Biden will be from small conservative outlets whose followers already know what the truth is. The uninformed public will be fed the CNN, NBC, ABC, and NBC commie propaganda that Biden is honest and Trump is a liar.
