It may well be enough to justify it based on their training and rules. That's where the reform comes in. Maybe they need to change their training and/or rules of engagement.
The ones calling for disbanding the police have no interest in solving the actual problems. This is not a case for people to be calling police brutality or racism.
The victim did make a number of poor choices that helped lead to his death.

Oh, of course not. Racism had nothing to do with it. But then, it has very little to do with anything going on right now.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 7:36 amAll I’m saying is that it’s not a clear cut case of white cops out to kill a black man minding his own business - it’s not like they went out and said I need to shoot me a darkie tonight - which is how it’s being portrayed. I don’t think race played an issue here and that a white dude would have been shot as well if he had done the same. The problem (if the cops were in the wrong) is bad cops (not racist cops) - this is not like the killing of Floyd. Ironically, the dude killed at Wendy’s seemed like and OK dude (except for attacking a cop) - unlike floyd who held a gun to a pregnant women’s stomach while his cohorts ransacked her apartment. But whatevrz - - makes for good opportunity for marxists left to keep on keeping on.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 6:30 amAgree on all points. I'm just saying that non-lethal force doesn't justify lethal force. And it's interesting to note the justifications given are often 'he resisted the police', as if that's a given for lethal force.PartyOf5 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 6:08 am
The last 60 seconds also includes him punching officers, stealing one of their tasers, and then firing the taser at one of the officers.
Being able to sit at a desk after the fact allows us the time to think all the options through. I wish the officer had simply continued pursuit and not shot him. They had his name, his car, and probably his ID. Even if he got away they would probably find him soon afterwards.
On the other side, the guy just totally flipped a switch from being reasonable and polite to punching 2 cops, beating them in a struggle, stealing and firing a weapon. Who knows what this guy is capable of after seeing him flip like that.
It's tragic, not racist. They were professional and courteous the whole time. Cop was reacting in real time. Maybe he deserves a suspension, maybe he deserves to be fired, but not an immediate firing without any due process.
I saw something that this Wendy's guy was in prison for child abuse, and released because of Covid. But I didn't waste mental energy/time on it. I recommend doing the same

^ the guy swung what looks like a skateboard at him... That could easily do some damage.

But guess who got arrested. Assuming the guy shot recovers, guess which one of them will now have his life ruined.
Most media outlets and leaders (not surprisingly) are painting the shooter as the bad guy. Yeah, the guy running away from a an angry mob that you can hear yelling "we're going to kill you". Guy defends himself only after multiple people attack him, one with a skateboard.
You have the protesters, who were there to damage more public property, whining about how people thee with guns meant to stop that from happening are being intimidating. The same thugs who chase people down screaming we are going to kill you. Yet our "leaders" like the police sit back and watched it all until someone gets shot and the anti-cop group comes crying for the police to help them, which they did. The governor scolds the ones protecting the property. No one in a position of authority or power on the right/conservative side is doing anything to stand up to this. They all wilt immediately and cave to the terrorists. The rest of us are being abandoned by our leaders.
A football coach caught wearing an OAN t-shirt just started his tour of shame yesterday.....for wearing a t-shirt of a media outlet.

The media is sickening. Already I'm seeing articles digging into the shooters past to make him look more guilty. They never did that for George Floyd or the guy from Atlanta. They were painted as innocent victims.
I thought the media had gotten bad after Trump was elected, but it has gone to defcon 1 now. This is how they are "reporting" the incident:

After the confrontation escalated, a man identified by police as Stephen Ray Baca allegedly fired shots into a crowd.
Rioters and looters get to do so freely, but citizens trying to protect and defend property and people will be prosecuted to the full extent."We are receiving reports about vigilante groups possibly instigating this violence. If this is true, we will be holding them accountable to the fullest extent of the law, including federal hate group designation and prosecution," Albuquerque Police Chief Michael Geier said in a news release.
Our leaders have sold us out to try and save themselves.

Re: Seriously, no one is talking about the riots?
More CHAZ nonsense. Some of the apartment dwellers are upset at all the noise. This is OP's edit to his original post:
Get out your fiddles, boys.1. I use white noise and earplugs. The fact is that we BEG you to be quiet at least at nighttime and you don’t care. How am I supposed to be supportive of police-free environment if in this environment no one cares about people who actually live here? You blast music 24/7 and don’t give us ANY BREAK. I put earplugs in to hide from insane party outside, and I take my earplugs out and end up in an insane party outside. Fulfilling this simple request will make us feel heard and respected.
2. If you want me to move, pay me 10k. 5200 to break my lease, about 1500 in moving expenses, and inconvenience fee for time spent looking for a new apartment that’s as good as the one I live in right now. If you are interested, I will send you the invoice
3. This is not the normal noise at Cal Anderson. Not for a week straight, 24/7.
4. Being able to afford to live in an expensive apartment doesn’t make feelings of people living here any less valid.
5. Not liking CHAZ because it affects my quality of life does not make me racist.
6. We did not ask to live in CHAZ. You can hang out at CHAZ and come home elsewhere to where you can sleep in peace. We cannot.
6. What’s the point of comparing ruining our sleep and bringing us daily headaches with 24/7 noise, and the racism against POC? Also I am literally an immigrant to the US from a country where we never had black slavery. Stop justifying making me suffer for something neither I nor my ancestors did.
7. My white privilege does not give me a superpower to block out this noise, nor does it make the perpetual noise acceptable.
