Re: 2020 General Election Predictions
I am going to try to put this one more way:
I think most of us would agree with the interpretation that 'woke, anti-racism' is a type of religious belief. For the woke, calling someone a racist is basically like calling them a heretic.
What do I care if someone from a religion that I am not a part of calls me a heretic? They are right. I am a heretic by whatever definition they provide, it just doesn't matter to me.

But by not confronting them, you’re letting them define the meaning of the word and control trot the narrative - you will ultimately loose to them bc proles are dumb as fuck. That’s what you fail to admit and/comprehend.

That is where we disagree. This is hard to prove, but I get the distinct impression that constantly trying to defend against accusations of racism is allowing them to control the narrative because all of our cognitive space is filled up trying to prove a negative.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:34 pm+1Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:22 pmI am going to try to put this one more way:

I say, fine, I will accept your definition of racism, because it is trivial to me. I can make a full-throated defense of enlightenment values and the founding principles of the United States in that context. Constantly being on the back foot over being accused of racism makes it impossible to mount an effective counter narrative.
Intelligent, well reasoned principles always benefit from clear definitions. Bad faith reasoning and argumentation benefits from fuzzy definitions. The woke have a clear definition of racism, but their crappy moral philosophy benefits from arguments that keep the definitions fuzzy. That is where their narrative power comes from, not some academic definition of racism or white supremacy.

Never does matter, until heretics start getting burned at the stake, right?Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:22 pmWhat do I care if someone from a religion that I am not a part of calls me a heretic? One of the most childish and intellectually lazy things BLM-types do is turn everything into an existential threat. Woe-is-me, it is a Holocaust, our lives are at stake.DBTrek wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:45 pmNever does matter, until heretics start getting burned at the stake, right?Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:22 pmWhat do I care if someone from a religion that I am not a part of calls me a heretic? The silly little auto-da-fe of kneeling is no threat to me, nor to you.

I disagree - but understand and respect that position. I just think there is too much historical evidence contradicting you.

You're the one who brought up your ambivalence about being labeled a heretic by a cult bent on your destruction. Based on your response I'm going to have to guess that you have zero historical knowledge of the common fate of heretics.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:50 pmOne of the most childish and intellectually lazy things BLM-types do is turn everything into an existential threat. The historical evidence shows the superiority of enlightenment values. If you are having trouble talking to people to the left of you because they keep calling things 'racist,' I would recommend just saying, "okay, but they aren't bigoted or prejudiced," and then going on to explain the moral superiority of that position and the enlightenment values that underpin them.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:52 pmHanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:44 pmThat is where we disagree. If they still disagree, and reject enlightenment values - oh well, that level of wokeness has a low ceiling, even if it seems to currently have a relatively high floor.

We are both fortunate to live in a free society where we can avoid the horrible common fate of deprivation, sickness, and starvation that was more or less universal through most of human history.DBTrek wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:53 pmYou're the one who brought up your ambivalence about being labeled a heretic by a cult bent on your destruction. I am not concerned that I will meet the common fate of heretics. I've been a heretic my whole damn life and it has never once been even an inconvenience, much less an existential threat.

Anyone inform China, India, or the Muslim world about this?
It would have nothing if people quit ceding ground to it due to their utter lack of foresight. If they still disagree, and reject enlightenment values - oh well, that level of wokeness has a low ceiling, even if it seems to currently have a relatively high floor.
