That's not true. He stopped travel from China before any local governments were even admitting they may have to shut things down. He closed the borders to limit spread. He ordered some businesses to manufacture vents. He has backed experts a number of times, just not always.

First, I'd like you to provide a source that the 3 main carriers had already stopped flights prior to Trump's order.

Second, there are 10 airlines ( 4 US, 6 Chinese) that travel between the countries. Even if 3 had already stopped, the other 7 had not. Hardly closing the door after the horse had bolted. In fact, most were calling this move premature.

This did nothing to stem the flow of returning US citizens. Those returning citizens weren't quarantined either. They were simply told to go home and self isolate.
Meanwhile, flights continued to come from Europe for another 6-7 weeks including flights from Italy on the 21st March ( a day when there were almost 800 COVID deaths).

Tens of thousands of Americans have returned from China since Jan' 31st (via non-direct routes) and been allowed to travel freely across the country.
