I 100% agree with what you are saying in theory, but that hasn't been the case since I've been alive. So right now we take what we can get, and if that means a president representing the people, then so be it. Fuck congress sure in hell isn't doing it.

One of the great things about America is that most people like their Representative, but dislike congress as a whole. That makes me think the reps are doing their job, and the institution is stable enough to resist bad ideas.

You don't give money to illegals, you don't ban US citizens from getting the money, and you don't put this as a bailout for groups that don't need it.

You want to make this country work, open up the damn country and get this quarantine off our fucking backs.

When less than 1/2 of the bill is actually going to COVID issue, and the rest are bailouts, etc... yeah, this isn't geared to the people, but every one the DNC owes favors too under false pretense.

If that's what you see, then so be it...

How about the fact that the bill is just a spending bill, and that if they were serious on this they would just open up the country? Or how about this does nothing to help the people overall...

This bill is the Democrat's way of getting what they want, without having to fight for it... so yeah, my beef is that Congress is doing it to help themselves and no one else.

If you are saying it doesn't enjoy popular support... well, that is something else entirely. It is probably safe to say that the representatives that are pushing the bill have constituents that, on balance, want the stimulus.

I am not convinced halting globalism will be more than a Pyrrhic victory at best, and I view most of the anti-globalist talking points as populist claptrap. But, that is why I am not a Trump supporter.

But, even if that were his job, I still don't think he is particularly competent. He can get people are fired up, but lacks the political savvy to actually get the job done. A clever anti-globalist populist wouldn't make so much noise.

Now, if his job is to pander to sympathetic crowds... yes, he is very very good at his job.

I don't know - who built most of the wall we currently have? W and Barry, I think.

Hillary would have killed TPP it was so damn unpopular. She more or less made it part of her stump.

Brexit was done without Trump's help, and I am not certain he has actually discouraged much off-shoring. He made some noises the first year about US manufacturers... like an air conditioning factory and a couple thousand car manufacturing jobs that sort of fizzled after the first few months.

NAFTA is still around.

Trump hasn't done shit. He may be a META campaigner, but he is pretty much a dud otherwise.
