Article looking at Niall Ferguson's COVID model. I don't know if this person is as good at Math as StA, but they do sure seem smart, by golly.

That's the problem, there is testing out there saying that the number of cases has increased, but the death toll has not. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/23/nyre ... st-ny.htmlPartyOf5 wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 6:06 amOfficial U.S. cases based on https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ stands at about 1.2m. That number is going to be low as some people never get tested. There are over 300m people in the US. There is no way 30% of the population has had it, even accounting for untested cases. Throwing numbers like that out there have no statistical ground to stand on.Xenophon wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 5:59 amWould you say the actual numbers of infected are higher or lower than official statistics?PartyOf5 wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 5:59 amYou're claiming to use statistics, but you leave out certain stats you don't feel like including.
We have no real idea how many people have been infected. Not enough people have been tested, and the ones that have were in select groups like health care workers. There is no large random sample that gives anyone any idea what percentage of people have been infected across the US.
So I say it's more than 1.2m, but not 25-30% of the population. If that was the case you would have higher deaths.
1 in 5 may have been infected by COVID already... That means 1,680,000 of people in NY may already of had COVID.... now if we take that into consideration,we would have to take the Southern, Eastern, and Western states and round out about 1/5th of their population of having COVID without being tested, which I have no issue doing, but it still doesn't increase the death tolls...
But we have to come to an agreement that 1/5 of the country already has COVID tested or not... and that the numbers we have now are a minimum count.

In fact, it's extremely dangerous and the delusional thinking from conservatives right now is insane.

Or ... more than 3 minutes per mile below the average, but close enough for StA math.
Man, getting all dunked out on this thread. Time to move on.

Re: Coronavirus thread
Their own medical group said that 60% were from other cases... sounds pretty familiar to what's happening in the US, and why the CDC dumped about 14-16K worth of deaths off the official records.
