You also know I've always held these types of opinions.

The other part of the equation is that city neither know or care to know much about tragedies that strike rural areas. Worse, they dont give a fuck, and use their energies to mock and denigrate rural folks.

Guess what, you reap what you sow.
And I'd agree with you on urbanite arrogance being obnoxius. From everything I've seen, read and heard, urbanite arrogance toward rural communities is worse in the US than it is here, and not just referring to what I read of your thoughts. I see it in how some TV shows, series, movies portray rural communities. Which is why I reject their way of thinking. Not because of "emotions", but because thay way of thinking is simplistic and wrong. Arguing that "cities/city folk are dumb" is not really the best reply to "rural communities are dumb".
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

There are some truths that I've presented before that urbanites should take to heart and attempt to remedy.

Metropolises are centers of concentrated pollutants and toxins. It's not a healthy environment and it makes the residents more susceptible to disease.

It is also not a healthy environment to raise children in.

An Ohio man who dismissed the coronavirus pandemic as a “political ploy” and ripped his state’s lockdown as “bulls–t,” has died of COVID-19, according to reports.

John W. McDaniel, 60, passed away last Wednesday in Columbus — exactly a month after reportedly firing off a series of angry messages about the contagion.

“Does anybody have the guts to say this COVID-19 is a political ploy? Asking for a friend. Prove me wrong,” he wrote on March 13, according to the Sun.

Two days later, McDaniel reportedly called “bulls–t” on Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s stay-at-home order closing bars and restaurants.

“He doesn’t have that authority. If you are paranoid about getting sick just don’t go out. It shouldn’t keep those of us from living our lives,” he wrote, according to the reports.

“The madness has to stop.”

The posts have since been deleted, but were saved and shared widely on social media, including by coronavirus talking head Dr. Dena Grayson.

McDaniel’s obituary confirmed that he died “with his loving family by his side from complications from Covid-19.” He was the first COVID-19 fatality in Marion County, the Marion Star said.

In sharp contrast to his reported posts, his family pleaded in his obit for “everyone to continue practicing social distancing to keep each other safe.”

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Muckrakers finally got the story they've been ghoulishly sifting COVID-19 death data for.
Proud day for such high caliber people.

The pandemic will rage again in the United States. The world will look at America and wonder what the fuck is wrong with us. No matter what the president or governors say, people will start sheltering in place on their own. Nobody is going to die for Burger King stock prices.

This money worship is ridiculous, but maybe it is time for the world to see where this kind of idolatry leads.
How long does that take to play out though really? I can see states reopening, then closing for 3 weeks trying slow spread and pause hospitalizations, then reopening again , and so on. I could also see states officially reopening, then three weeks later freaking out because all the renewed infections/hospitalizations and then not reopening for several months longer before trying again. Also, states will look to other states and see how it goes and if youre lucky enough to live in a more reasonable risk averse state they will just not "reopen" it if and when those around start falling apart again.

Most likely you will see republican-led states get completely swamped with the disease and then everybody will go back to isolation.
