God, Guns, or Girls, Monte

Pick one
I haven't got a lot to say about God unless Gaia counts.

I don't have a lot to say about guns either and you probably don't want to hear any more about trebuchets so weapons are out. I wouldn't mind you talking me through ammo though, what do the numbers mean? I understand calibers but are the other numbers related to the charge or the length of the cartridge? My knowledge of firearms is pretty poor but I do like to learn.

I could talk about the judge's daughter, a judges daughter is pretty high on the posh totty scale. Above a mere doctor's daughter like ballet girl.
Gun Calibers are fractions of an inch. A 50 cal, is 0.50 inches in diameter

It gets more complicated from there
Like I said, I understand calibers. It's the number that goes with it I don't understand.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

A 308 is the trajectories diameter in a decimal number of one inch, 0.308 inches.
A 7.62 mm measures the same as 0.308
A 7.62 x 51 is a NATO standard round with a trajectory diameter of 7.62 mm and a case length of 51 mm
A 7.62 X 45 was originally a Warsaw Pact round with a trajectory diameter of 7.62 and a case length of 45 mm

Did that answer it or are their other numbers you don't understand.

Because the naming of calibers varies greatly, and there are no set rules.
30-06 for example was .30 caliber of 1906
The 45-70 was 45 caliber with 70 grains of black powder

meh, tell us about the girls you loved, fucking is not enough, without grace, you've got nothing
Well I did fall hopelessly in love with the judge's girl. So much so that I was broken hearted when it didn't work out and moved to London for a year to get away from it all.
She had a cool name too. I always liked Freya, she was a mischievous spirit in Norse mythology.

That right there, 99 mm can't be the caliber it would have to be an artillery shell to be that size.

12.7mm is the diameter of the bullet x 99mm is the length of the cartridge

for artillery, it's a bit different

there is diameter :155mm (6 inch)

then when they say caliber, they mean the number of shells in length the barrel is : 39 caliber

so an M777A2 L39 is 155mm / 39 caliber

She was 21 and I was 24. Like many of my girlfriends, she was a waitress at a place I worked.
Very pretty with a perfect body but slightly piggy eyes.
Highly intelligent, very high IQ but not particularly knowledgable. She was tested at school and found to be genius level IQ. Rebellious though so she didn't make the most of going to a posh private school. She never went to university. Good sense of humour but a bit self-absorbed.
Main problem was she was a bit manic depressive and a heavy drinker. Geniuses often are a bit mad.
Looking back it's hard to work out why I fell for her so badly. I was a stoner and she was a drinker so we were on different buzzes.
Her parent's house was to die for. It was the Old Hall in a posh little village, the earliest parts were 13th century with additions going through the centuries up to Georgian. Maybe it was the house I was really in love with

That's the bit I was getting at. Does the length of the cartridge relate to the size of the charge and therefore the muzzle velocity and range?
