Saw a BBC headline that spun this as "MAN DIES AFTER INGESTING MEDICINE TOUTED BY TRUMP!" Even as civilization circles the drain, they can't help themselves.

This is the only BBC news story I could find on it, and the only non-quote they write is:

The drug has been touted by President Donald Trump as a possible treatment for the virus.

Which... isn't really an accusation. I'm sure there are other stories that adopt that interpretation, though.

It's false though, the medication ingested wasn't the one touted by Trump

This instance is a prime example of that dynamic. BBC got the TDS real bad, it doesn't get any more TDS than that headline.

So, it's not saying that the medicine that the couple ingested was the same as the one touted by Trump.

This couple didn't even have any symptoms, they didn't have the virus, nor did they even think they had it. They took it because they thought it prevented getting Coronavirus if you take it, and mixed fish tank cleaner into their soda, when the package had "not for human consumption" written right on it. The wife in rough shape as well, she's lucky she didn't kill herself too.

It wasn't even medicine. It was fish tank cleaner, and one ingredient of that fish tank cleaner was hydroxychlorqine, that wasn't even the ingredient that killed him. It's like one of those Florida Man stories, and the media think there is hay to be made attacking Trump over it.
