Dude there are millions of baleen whales you can kill, yet you pick on the pilots. Why? There is an inexhaustable supply of humpback and blue whales in the sea. They are more environmentally friendly too, because they are larger and have more blubber which is an alternate no fossil fuel energy source.Manwithnoname wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:29 pmDefenceless pilot whales are the best. It's actually the Norwegians who still hunt whales. They hunt minke whales because they claim they're sustainable and because the fur is great for making coats to keep out the cold.heydaralon wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:36 pmDude there are millions of baleen whales you can kill, yet you pick on the pilots. It is who I am. Norse blood. Would you tell a bee not to sting, a snake not to bite, a Shakespeare to not... shake a spear or something?heydaralon wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:36 pmDude there are millions of baleen whales you can kill, yet you pick on the pilots. Well, the Irish are just descendants of Celts who were fucked by Norsemen. Same as most of the British.heydaralon wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 2:14 pmAren't most Australians of Irish stock?Manwithnoname wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:48 pmIt is who I am. Norse blood. Depends on who landed where. South Australia is full of sausage eaters. West Australia poms. Etc. it’s a little like saying the US is full of puritans, as Maryland waves hello.heydaralon wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 2:14 pmAren't most Australians of Irish stock?Manwithnoname wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:48 pmIt is who I am. O hai, HD. Good effort. Not feeling even slightly guilty about anything done by past kings, though.
And Faroe islanders still hunt pilot whales... and sometimes get sick from it, because the meat is full of various metals.

Pilot whales are hunted on the Faroe Islands, which is in a union with Denmark. While whale hunting is illegal in the EU, technically speaking the Faroe Islands - like Greenland- is not part of the EU even if they're part of the kingdom of Denmark. Because they have their own local parliaments, and home rule. Meaning they can hunt and eat things that either are not allowed to be hunted on Denmark.Montegriffo wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:45 pm

Talking of unpopular practices, there is a mink farm a couple of miles away from the farm and recently one has turned up here. We know it is here because it has been seen on one of the wildlife cameras.
American mink are not indigenous to the UK and can do serious damage to the local wildlife. On the plus side, it has decimated the rat population many of which have simply abandoned the farm and moved to the neighbouring farm which is now complaining of much higher than normal numbers.
We thrashed a trailer full of wheat today and when we got to the bottom of the stack there were only 5 or 6 rats for the dog to catch. In the past the numbers have been much higher, one stack (admittedly much larger) that we threshed a couple of years ago yielded over a hundred rats and countless mice.
The dead rats are left out in the field and within a couple of days the crows take care of them.

Crumble into warm double cream and pour over steamed asparagus with some roasted vine tomatoes drizzled in balsamic syrup.
I don't care how many fucking monks they killed, all is forgiven.

fig
pomegranate
Cheese works very well with fruit.
Stilton and grape, cheddar and apple, brie and apricot etc. The sweetness of the fruit contrasts nicely with the umami of the cheese. This is why you have pineapple on a pizza .

Just an educated guess, but I'd wager that mink farm had a visit by anti-fur activists at one or several times. Those guys are the main cause of the introduction of american mink into european habitats.Montegriffo wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 5:32 pm Talking of unpopular practices, there is a mink farm a couple of miles away from the farm and recently one has turned up here.
