I think StA made good points on why preparation is a win/win while assuming everything will be fine is a gamble (can't find which thread that's in right now). Prepping for the worst won't hurt anyone. Changing none of your patterns, routines, or behaviors, might.
/shrug

But I'm done with "scientific models" and non-sourced videos of "look what's happening in China!!!!", and all the other bullshit being peddled by media, states, and intelligence agencies that have big agendas and little idea what they're talking about.

I got the important message - strange and contagious virus incoming. Doesn't seem super lethal, but may be spreading like wildfire.

Cool.

Back to the BBQ
(Cuz I think my backyard is Coronavirus free, and if not . .. well ... looks like the whole neighborhood is due for a quarantine)

One case here in Stockholm yesterday. Three new ones today. All back from vacationing in Iran. Flights to and from Iran still not closed.
This government is the worst we ever had.

Ya'll really know how to NOT enjoy an impending weekend.
Can the Iranians eat 5mg THC edibles and watch XFL while grilling up pork ribs in the back yard?
Are they riding out the storm in climate controlled homes with a cabinet full of well aged whiskey?
No.

Different boats, man.
This boat soooo much better.

Mine is waterlogged after what is likely to be the wettest February on record. For the 4th weekend in a row weather warnings for high winds and heavy rain have been issued. This will be the third named storm in 3 weeks. First we had Ciara, followed by Dennis and next is Jorge.
Many parts of the country are experiencing extreme flooding especially the river Severn valley and parts of Yorkshire.
We've had trees blown over on the farm, a fully loaded trailer of straw toppled and the wind turbine keeps exceeding the limit of 500 volts causing it to shut down. The bearings meant to feather its blades have worn out preventing it from self-regulating. The field is far too waterlogged for the engineers to come and replace them.
I take comfort in the knowledge that climate change is a Chinese hoax and rainfall of over 200% of average is just weather.

Maybe you could shovel more money into your government's hands, Monte.
Then they could fix the weather for you.

The coronavirus's effect on air travel is currently achieving more than Greta Thunberg ever could.

ps, it's the climate that's the problem, not the weather.

Lockheed Martin shareholders approve.
Lockheed Martin outlines new green initiatives for its 140,000 employees

Lockheed Martin's employee-based initiative surrounding EE Week is just a portion of the corporation's overall Go Green business strategy. Lockheed Martin is committed to reducing its overall energy usage by building and operating greener, more-efficient buildings, embarking on Green IT activities, constructing on-site renewable energy projects and purchasing renewable energy credits. The corporation also ranks among the top 50 organizations in the country in green power purchases based on kilowatt hours of power used, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency Green Power Partnership. The corporation's long-term absolute goals through 2012 are to reduce carbon emissions, waste to landfill and water usage - each by 25 percent.

In addition to reducing its own environmental impact, Lockheed Martin is working with its customers in the areas of energy efficiency, management, next-generation alternative energy generation, and climate monitoring, Lockheed Martin provides a full range of energy solutions to the government and regulated industry, including the Department of Energy, state and regional energy organizations, utilities and businesses.

Who could doubt government's ability to solve global climate issues . . . especially with it's phenomenal track record for handling significantly less complex and dire issues, right?
