No, not doomsaying at all so long as you say ''if'' or ''could'' before you conclude that 700 million people are going to die.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 3:35 pmCDC and a few other national agencies predicting we could see 60% of the world's population infected. 20% of the infected need critical care to survive. If we hit 60%, there is no way those people will receive critical care. We already see this in China where the case fatality rate is over 15%.
If that carries through.. 60% of the world's population is 4.48 billion people. If 15% of those die, you are looking at over 700 million fatalities.
Unless we can discover a treatment and mass produce that, or somehow stop this from going pandemic.
I mean.. that's just the numbers the CDC and PRC are putting out there. If they are to be believed, and 60% of the world is going to be infected, and the PRC is to believed that 18-20% needed critical care, and because they couldn't provide it to so many, they have a case fatality rate of just over 15%.. the only conclusion you can reach is that we face the potential loss of 700 million people over the next year or two to this disease.
That's not zerohedge apoplectic ranting. That's the numbers our government is implying without explicitly stating. The CDC at least believes we could lose that many people.
That would come down to about 197 million Americans infected, with 28 million Americans succumbing due to lack of ICU beds. The Spanish Flu was maybe half a million Americans dead.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Angling for it? No, I genuinely thought you were that ignorant, and have never seen any evidence to suggest you were particularly rational. And StA genuinely is doom-fantasizing over, but that's what he's always done. This is just the newest doom he's wishing for. But lol at you whining about "dishonesty" and "hackery", though. The beam in your eye's so firmly wedged in there you don't even noticed the redwood sticking out your hypocritical ruined asshole the other end.PartyOf5 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 10:50 am
So you're angling for some sort of "gotcha" moment. I have stated repeatedly that I'm not anticipating doomsday. My position has always been what you've stated in your second paragraph, yet dishonest hacks like you and Monte keep trying to pin posters like myself and STA as declaring the world is coming to an end.
BTW, using number of test kits as a measure of how serious this is has got to be near the top of ignorant things to say. Countries are quarantining millions of people. Countries are shutting down schools for a month. Travel bans are in place across parts of the world. Death rate is at least 3% for COVID-19 vs. .2% for the flu.

Correct. I was walking on the street a few hours ago, and people were going about their day like nothing was wrong. Clearly, a tactic to have me let my guard down so they can shank me in the kidneys and cook me over an open flame.TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:10 pmThis virus is tearing society apart. We got our first case a couple days back. Fortunately it's around Copenhagen, so by Tuesday the fetid capital will be no more. By Wednesday the gasses of the rotting corpses will make the city toxic. By Thursday the Astartes will declare Exterminatus on the city...

Either way, you are no longer worth discussing anything with because you either can't understand English or are just as dishonest as capps. Not worth wasting my time on that. Good luck.

I've been rational the whole time. Go back and read my posts where I said the same thing you did. Now you're just name calling for sake of it without anything to back it up.BjornP wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:00 pmAngling for it? Where's my hypocrisy? Since I can't see due to the redwood why don't you point it out for me?

People are stockpiling the wrong thing, masks are to prevent a medic from infecting a patient
Virus is transmitted by hand, hands touching a contaminated surface then the face
Surgical gloves > Masks
