Fuck off with the "what, me? I'm just treating this with the best medicine of humor" bullshit. You've been mocking people taking this seriously and discussing it like adults. You, the one who whined and cried like one of your little boy toys that I wasn't contributing real substance to the forum now mocks those (myself included) that are contributing civil discussion and facts to this thread. Again, you are a hypocrite.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 7:23 amBecause it is not a doomsday scenario event like the Spanish flu as some are trying to portray it. It is serious enough to take sensible medical precautions but it isn't going to result in millions of deaths and the collapse of society.
Besides, as everyone knows, laughter is the best medicine.
As I've said all along, the economic effect is going to be the most damaging.
99 times out of 100 it is panic buying which empties the shelves not insurmountable supply chain problems.
I've already gone out and stocked up a bit, not because I'm afraid this is the end times but because of what you stated. People are going to panic when this gets worse and I won't be the one sitting in the grocery store staring at empty shelves and wondering what my family is going to eat for the next month while quarantined.

Re: SARS Pt. 2 - Wuhan Boogaloo
Really?
Ah well, what I am getting at is if they have a high number of regular flu test kits, that would not equal that the flu is lethal to the point that everyone ought to stock up on canned foods and preparing for the - even partly - collapse of society. Same with if they had a higher number (than your 200) test kits. They have flu test kits because you can die from the flu. Same as they have test kits for the coronavirus because you can die from that. But the lethality of it still just isn't that high. Coronavirus is highly contagious, but it isn't highly lethal. For most people. It's for those other people, the frail and elderly, that the vaccine is hopefully soon ready.
Can people die from the coronavirus? Absolutely? Will even those who are sick but not terminally so, need to be quarenteened for at least 14 days and thus potentially miss out on work, losing pay or even their jobs in some countries? Again, yup. Will the economic effect be hard-hitting? For at least untill the mass production and distribution of the vaccine starts moving, the economy will suffer.
But it's not something that's bound to kill off millions of people all over the world, like the Eternal Doomsday in a Grimdark Mind-squad are saying. Particularly not people in western industrialized nations.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

Look, unless you doomsayers have stopped going to work, pulled your kids out of school and locked yourselves into your houses all you are doing is virtue signalling how clever you are for buying extra groceries.
To be honest, most of you seem more afraid of your governments than the actual virus.
Well, as you are so fond of saying ''elections have consequences''. You put the self-serving buffoon into office so if he is more concerned about the stock market crisis than your safety that's on you.
If you think your authorities are going to abandon you to starvation and deprive you of medical care then maybe vote for socialised medicine and higher taxes next time around so that they are better prepared for global events or domestic crises. If you hate big government so much then lock yourselves in and hope for the best. If you want something to be done about stopping the spread of this virus then get behind actions to lock down regions and spend taxpayers money to treat the infected instead of spreading conspiracy theories about bio-weapons and people being starved to death.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Testing for the virus so that people can be quarantined to help contain the spread and to make sure those in need of treatment can receive it. What other purpose do you think testing kits are for?TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 7:56 amYeah where the fuck all these test came from anyway? It's one of the benefits of not for profit healthcare, the overriding aim is to provide healthcare not to make profits for insurance companies.
Charging thousands of dollars to be tested is not going to help identify those at risk.
A better question is not ''how come the NHS has thousands of kits?'' but ''why the fuck don't we?''

So you're angling for some sort of "gotcha" moment. I have stated repeatedly that I'm not anticipating doomsday. My position has always been what you've stated in your second paragraph, yet dishonest hacks like you and Monte keep trying to pin posters like myself and STA as declaring the world is coming to an end.BjornP wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 9:31 amReally?

BTW, using number of test kits as a measure of how serious this is has got to be near the top of ignorant things to say. Countries are quarantining millions of people. Countries are shutting down schools for a month. Travel bans are in place across parts of the world. Death rate is at least 3% for COVID-19 vs. .2% for the flu.

"To be honest" Bitch, please. You are never honest.
Preparing for a run on supplies does not mean I need to stop going to work. I'm really beginning to believe you are just really stupid and not a total troll.

“doomsayers”
This forum is not a great place for intellectuals. Too many like capps and monte make discussion impossible.
