A working vaccine is at least a year away. Clinical trials, production and distribution takes time. Better treatments with existing drugs is what we will have to rely on until then.
Some are trying the anti Ebola drug Remdesivir, others use the anti HIV drugs Lopinavir, Ritonavia and Klorokin. They will hopefully find a functioning treatment soon.

Hm, what the fuck was that trade deal with Pacific nations called again? Trans Atlantic something something was the one everyone was up in arms about. It being like a thousand pages thick and the house had a day to read it before the vote. I need to look into the Pacific one because I remember one of the emphasis of it was drug production.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-P ... artnershipMany observers have argued the trade deal would have served a geopolitical purpose, namely to reduce the signatories' dependence on Chinese trade and bring the signatories closer to the United States.[
This is it. So Trump really did kill us all.

Trump is fucking up really badly. SARS-2 pandemic handed him everything he needed to accelerate his entire economic nationalist and secured borders platform. Instead he doubled down on the “nothing to see here” meme as people begin randomly dropping dead in the streets of South Korea and Iran. The US depends on Chinese manufacturing for something like 70% of our own manufacturing’s component inputs. Instead of coming out in front if this to claim he was right in 2017 to start getting manufacturing back, he throws tantrums on Twitter because his stock markets crashed.
Other smaller countries already allocated what in USD amounts to many billions of dollars to fight the pandemic. Trump low-balled it, causing legislators from both parties to question his sanity.
He very well might have cost his re-election by his weak response.

If an administration establishes the DJIA as the sole metric for #winning, there isn't a lot of wiggle room available.

I cannot believe how retarded this monkey is behaving right now. Even in the most favorable case where we could contain it he was set to capitalize on the global supply chain disruption and economic dependencies it lays bare.

Why does the UK need that many test kits for something you say is no big deal? Which is it Monte, is it just something to joke about or something to be concerned about? Is it even possible for you to not be a hypocrite on everything you post?Montegriffo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 8:32 pmHow is it possible that California only has about 200 test kits for coronavirus?
The UK has already tested over 7000 people.

Because it is not a doomsday scenario event like the Spanish flu as some are trying to portray it. It is serious enough to take sensible medical precautions but it isn't going to result in millions of deaths and the collapse of society.PartyOf5 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 7:09 amWhy does the UK need that many test kits for something you say is no big deal? Besides, as everyone knows, laughter is the best medicine.
As I've said all along, the economic effect is going to be the most damaging.
99 times out of 100 it is panic buying which empties the shelves not insurmountable supply chain problems.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

How many test kits would you assume they have for the regular flu in the UK, Po5? If they have more than 200, does this mean that the flu is that much more dangerous than the Chinese Dogballs Batlick Virus?

I really wish Monte would stop lying about what other posters argue. I have consistently argued that, based on the numbers we have, *if* this virus infects as many people as virologists claim is possible, *then* the current numbers predict fatalities comparable to the Spanish Flu pandemic. Nobody knows for certain what will or will not happen. Rational risk analysis dictates we should treat this pandemic as if it is the worst case. Arguing that we should prepare for and respond to the SARS-2 virus as if it is that deadly does not constitute an argument that it necessarily will. I certainly hope for the best, but assuming the best and taking chances with a pandemic is definitely not a rational choice.
I have grown exceedingly tired of the deliberate lying on this forum. I have been doing my best to respond to what you say in a charitable fashion and expect the same from you.
