Well, if your base needs a rallying cry for Socialism, and you’re running against the first billionaire in office.. why not use your own billionaire as a target, to remind them of the evils they must destroy?
Socialism is a small base that alienates the center, rallying them loses more votes than it gains. Also Bloomberg hates the socialists, so he isn't deliberately trying to help them win.
You underestimate the stupid.
Nope, you overestimate the appeal of socialism, even to the stupid. You don't live in Canada, you live in America, and Americans don't like socialism, don't be fooled by Boston.

Only 19% of people view socialism positively in America, compared with 53% who view it negatively. -34

You might be surprised how many Americans don't think socialism will screw them over less than the status quo. Buffoon > Socialist
Doesn’t really matter does it? We gave the nuclear codes to a reality star. I’d say this is desperation time.
61% of Americans don't agree, as things have gotten better for them then it was three years after giving the nuclear codes to a reality star. If the economy isn't in the tank come election day, socialism ain't going to sell.
Smells like a keyster statistic.

Not great, Bernie.
It’s not being sold as straight up Socialism. It’s shiny new ‘democratic socialism’. Or merely ‘progressive taxation’. There is no shortage of voters that see a clear difference.

Not only that, but we desperately need some sort of remedy to crony capitalism. The problem is real, regardless of how this particular solution plays out.

Remember, trump was elected to ‘fix’ the corruption in politics, and would ‘work for the little people’ because he was different. Now that ‘super capitalist’ didn’t work, the pendulum is swinging wildly to the left.

And don’t pretend that the 1% of Americans who own stock have any bearing on our general prosperity.

Not when Trump gets through with Bernie they won't, they will see little difference, because there isnt any.

Bernie doesn't have the support with Democrats like Trump does with Republicans, nor does Sanders appeal to the center anywhere near the level of Trump. Trump Smash.

Capitalism has 52% positive view and a 18% negative view among voters, +34. Socialism has a 19% positive view and a 53% negative view among voters, -34. That's a 68 point spread for Trump to exploit. The only group of voters who socialism is popular with is democrats, independents and republicans strongly dislike it.
