I understand that, but the point is that when we used to just clean slate, things were a lot simpler.
What has fighting honorably gotten us except a few thousand dead and no respect world wide?

Only a fool believes the enemy will respect them if they show restraint. I'm a sinner, but I'm still a Christian soldier.

Honor can really only be bestowed by honorable men. What some rapist jihadi thinks or does is really irrelevant. The reason those guys fail so often has much to do with their lack of honor. And their culture sure as shit knows what it is. Not sure what happened to them that these kinds of maniacs get so much power.

You know, religion aside because I don't believe that religion is an answer. Especially for the sheer fact that it's man-made.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 9:50 pmNo fears on earth, I'll follow the Lord, WWJDThe Conservative wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 9:48 pmOnly a fool believes the enemy will respect them if they show restraint. Art of War and all other documents have all stated that allowing the enemy to have any foothold in any manner, especially once that can be eradicated with ease, should not be allowed to fester.
You don't give your enemy a way out, especially an enemy that would be willing to stab you in the back as quickly and as readily and as quickly as an eye blinks.

Sun Tzu actually said the opposite. You should always leave your enemy a way out or they fight many times harder because they have no exit.

Tu Mu puts it, is "to make him believe that there is a road to safety, and thus prevent his fighting with the courage of despair." Tu Mu adds pleasantly: "After that, you may crush him."Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 12:49 pmSun Tzu actually said the opposite. Very simple, leave them a way that they think they can escape, and then when they do so, destroy them. It's a pretty simple explanation.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 1:01 pmNow try to comprehend the sentence you just quoted.
