In terms of my "aliens", they'll simply be non Americans

Humans, but the further humans go into space, the more alien they will become.

Another defining characteristic of my future Americans is that they reject transhumanism.

They don't modify themselves, the other humans do however, thus they become the aliens

In terms of weaponry, some will be very high tech, some not so much.

For example a .357 magnum revolver on Mars is not less effective, it's exponentially more effective.

No need for a laser pistol, no change if there is no reason.

On a sidenote for sci-fi one of my favorite books is Armor.

When you write something in that genre, let me know, I'd prolly check that out.

I have to some extent already with a old game concept I had... regretfully I stopped writing it after parts of it started to come true. I created in my world the Homeland Security Force..need I say more?

It was a version of America that went through a second civil war, where the DNC, and part of the RNC both attempted to remove a corporate president.

I figured that they would attempt a coup and an assassination attempt for the second term.

While the Mechanicus are transhumanist, believing flesh is week and machines have spirits it's a mistake to think they worship machines. They worship the omnissiah or the God head of the ultimate machine. Technically the God Emperor of Mankind is the omniissiah but it's doubtful to many. They had a huge civil war over it and don't really talk about it much in the 41st millenia to outsiders. They dont talk to anyone about much at all but they are still part of the empire and ostensibly work with it. Usually for their own aims.

No need to create new superheroes, to create a character for the anthology, just model them on a great American warrior.
