I'm all for seeing government, UN, and environmental NGOs getting back and forth to all their climate conferences this way. Until then, color me sceptical as to how serious they are, and not just using it to control things.
Why don't they do all their climate conferences over the internet though? There's really no reason why they can't do it, we have the technology. It would be WAY cheaper, no need to spend millions on expensive hotels, banquets and air travel. It would also work in favor of transparency and recording for historical purpose, as everything could be accessed by the media and any other person interested in what's going on at the conference. It would be easier to combat corruption and back room deals, by not giving them the opportunity to network out of sight of the public.

It would also save a lot of precious time for really busy people, as they could do it from home, having all of their advisors close by, and with the added comforts of doing it in a familiar location. Harder to exploit star struck people from smaller nations when they're back home, than if they're in New York.

Italian authorities have closed roads and evacuated mountain huts after experts warned that part of a glacier on Mont Blanc could collapse.

About 250,000 cubic metres of ice are in danger of breaking away from the Planpincieux glacier on the Grandes Jorasses peak, officials said.

The mayor of the nearby town of Courmayeur said global warming was changing the mountain.

The Mont Blanc massif is Western Europe's highest mountain range.

It has 11 peaks above 4,000m in France and Italy and attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.

On Tuesday, Courmayeur Mayor Stefano Miserocchi signed an order closing roads in the Val Ferret on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, after experts warned that a section of the glacier was sliding at speeds of 50-60cm (16-23in) per day.
Rising global temperatures are causing the melting of mountain glaciers and the retreat of polar ice sheets.

Earlier this month, dozens of people took part in a "funeral march" to mark the disappearance of the Pizol glacier in north-east Switzerland.

The glacier, in the Glarus Alps, has shrunk to a tiny fraction of its original size.

Scientists say it has lost at least 80% of its volume just since 2006, a trend accelerated by rising global temperatures.

Hell of a hoax those Chinese are pulling off...

Climate change is devastating our seas and frozen regions as never before, a major new United Nations report warns.

According to a UN panel of scientists, waters are rising, the ice is melting, and species are moving habitat due to human activities.

And the loss of permanently frozen lands threatens to unleash even more carbon, hastening the decline.

There is some guarded hope that the worst impacts can be avoided, with deep and immediate cuts to carbon emissions.
The scientists are "virtually certain" that the global ocean has now warmed without pause since 1970.

The waters have soaked up more than 90% of the extra heat generated by humans over the past decades, and the rate at which it has taken up this heat has doubled since 1993.

Where the seas were once rising mainly due to thermal expansion, the IPCC says this is now happening principally because of the melting of Greenland and Antarctica.
Thanks to warming, the loss of mass from the Antarctic ice sheet in the years between 2007 and 2016 tripled compared to the 10 years previously.

Greenland saw a doubling of mass loss over the same period. The report expects this to continue throughout the 21st Century and beyond.

For glaciers in areas like the tropical Andes, Central Europe and North Asia, the projections are that they will lose 80% of their ice by 2100 under a high carbon emissions scenario. This will have huge consequences for millions of people.

A trade war with China is the only way to stop this...

Imagine the panic if we had been around when the continents were formed. Surely that was due to man-made climate change.

Also, the bottom of the pool smells like strawberries.
