New car smell doesn't win elections, you need more than a fresh face, you need a fresh face who can sell a used car, if they can't sell, it doesn't matter how fresh their face is. Used car salesman skills are the most important part of the equation, fresh face is just a cherry on top.
Obama was a helluva used car salesman, much better than Hillary, McCain and Romney, Trump was head and shoulders better as a used car salesman than everyone he faced in 2016, that's why they won.
