I really fucking hate it when other disabled people make irrational demands that inconvenience more people than help, especially when they cllaim to speak for everybody.

The disability privilege racket is fucking insane and non-disabled seem terrified of being accused of hate for openly stating the obvious.

So much of these privileges are abused too. Just because people have any disability they will try to get that parking permit for example. It should be reserved for people with actual mobility disabilities. Some of these bozos are "disabled" because they let themselves go in the first place, and they should park in the back of the parking lot to get the needed exercise. Then how often do you see people not in wheelchairs parking in the disabled spot specifically oriented for wheelchair lifts?

Then you have people in wheelchairs exploiting good will to go to the front of a long line when they are the ones sitting in a damned chair, and people with chronic pain disabilities are standing in line like everybody else.

These victim organizations are the worst too. I have no doubt the guy the article quoted was stretching the truth about people refusing to activate cc.

Yes. They can do that, and also limit the law to generally only affect white people.

Stores that that set up displays of multiple televisions for sale will only need to activate captions on one set. John Engber, director of the Retail Industry Coalition of Seattle, said Herbold listened to the group’s concerns.

The law includes a section requesting that the office study the race and social-justice impacts of the requirement, “particularly on immigrant- or refugee-run businesses or those businesses requiring translation or additional technical assistance,” and report back later this year.

Still doesn’t address the suffering of the illiterate and non-English speakers tho.

"The reason the Police Bureau is experiencing catastrophic staffing shortages, drastically declining recruiting success, and the inability to retain officers is due to one core issue: the intense anti-police sentiment in our City that City Council seems to share," Turner said in a Monday, April 8 statement.

At the tip of the iceberg: the City Budget Office reports that Portland has 120 vacant officer positions that need to be filled.

The shortage of beat cops comes as the bureau is flooded with a rising number of calls for service. Call volume increased 25% over the last five years, according to the budget office, primarily driven by "disorder" related calls. The end result is that officers are scrambling to respond to 55,000 more calls this year than in 2013-14, but with roughly the same number of police officers.

There is a video of a meeting of the city council and police chief. In that they state of 63 recent applicants, only 3 passed the initial screening, most failing due to drug use.

So the overworked cops that are left will get burned out faster and the city will continue to circle the drain. They will end up with less cops or worse cops. That's what you get when your leadership backs the thugs and not the cops. I wonder what housing prices are doing in Portland?
