They had a chance to trade Nylander for Parayko.

I would have made the trade.

Dubas balked.

Nylander is fucking useless in the playoffs.

Andreas Johnsson is better.

That's on Dubas.

Dubas will invoke the same excuse as to why he couldn't get a 1RHD

The Hockey Gods don't care about their excuses.
Harder to get a 1C than a 1RHD though, Poile knows.
Whatever.

What I see on the Loafs is that they have several trade-able assets not in their core seven.

While at the same time they don't have the 1RHD.

That's on Dubas.

It's not my job to pry Colton Parayko out of St. Louberta.

Dubas is the Wunderkind, that's his fuckin job.
Dubas has less excuses than Poile, that's for damn sure. Leafs already have two 1Cs, and plenty of tradeable assets not in the core 7. Getting a 1RHD was totally attainable.

I lived through this Leafs team 1.0

It's the Leafs from 1986.

I lived through Gord Stellick 1.0

He wasn't really the GM.

Dubas is Gord Stellick,

We've been here before.

People now think the Leafs sucked in the 80's

That wasn't it.

They were the same as this team.

All offense, no defense, too many kids.

They made the playoffs a few times.

They just didn't get anywhere.

We've been here before.

They did try to break out in the end.

They waited six years then they finally traded William Gary Leeman Nylander for Doug Gilmour.

They made two runs at it.

They fell short.

Loafs West hasn't committed themselves.

You didn't sign a Tavares.

So you're not locked in yet.

Dubas however went out and signed Tavares.

Then he didn't get the pieces to surround him because he was gun shy.

The Avs are there yet. You haven't committed eleven schmill to anybody yet, never mind two of them.

MacKinnon at a $6.3 million cap hit is pretty fucking sweet, gotta love it.

Eugene Melnyk is right.

The Loafs forgot to draft a defence.

They have to trade a Nylander or a Kadri or something that actually gets you a top d-man.

Because they are commited to Matthews and Tavares now.

Gentleman Joe still has lots of wriggle room.

He hasn't commited $22 plus million to two players.

At some point he will have to commit.

At some point he will have to spend big money on somebody.

But the Avs are still a couple years behind the Leafs, so they don't have to commit yet.

This is why I have no sympathy for NFL players.

I hate guaranteed contracts.

If you have a salary cap, you have to be able fire people for non performance.

And shoot them in the back as they are running away.
