And yeah, I'd wish Americans realized just how stuck in the past they are with Vietnam. No matter their politics. Feelings of guilt or anger are useless when your "enemies" actually respect you and want to expand your trade, economy and American jobs.
But the Vietnamese are not the Vietnam Demon.

The Demon is defeat.

The hardhats hate the hippies. The hippies hate the hardhats.

The two identity camps blame each other for the catastrophic defeat.

They use all sorts of proxies to fight about, but all the fights come down to the catastrophe which split the nation.

And whose fault that is.
Not the impression I've gotten, but then again, that’s the thing with online interactions... it's not neccesarily representative. Unlike me, you do live in NA, you have American family, visit the US on a regular basis.

My impression of Americans' view of the Vietnam war is either one of "gook devils" vs "our evil imperialist war". Both seemed to believe present Vietnamese must hate them. But again, I might not come across a representative sample of US opinion on the subject.

I mean, take this place. American misfits, all. ;)

But they don't blame the Vietnamese. The Vietnamese are not even important.

Rule number one with Americans; it's all about Americans, the foreign people are irrelevant.

It's Hanoi Jane Fonda v. John Wayne and the Green Berets.

This is why Carlin flipped out when I called him Hanoi Dan.

That was a hot button, I was calling him a 'traitor' in effect.

Everything is Vietnam. Everything is not the Vietnamese tho, they are irrelevant.

Bear in mind, this was not an accident, this was not a coincidence.

This was the North Vietnamese strategy.

The North Vietnamese said "the side whose soldiers question their orders less, will win"

The North Vietnamese strategy was to co-opt the American media.

To make American soldiers question their orders.

That's how they won.
Dan told me it was unwinnable. Man, I wish Trump dropped like 20 ICBMs on Vietnam as payback for their psyops causing us to lose our defensive war in IndoChina. America only fights defensive wars, and its fucked that these zipperheads poisoned our media.
You’d want to drop bombs on one of the most American-friendly in Asia because of the US government losing face in a war you finished fighting for the French over forty years ago?

You, sir, have some weird priorities...
They need to pay Bjorn. Does this really need to be explained to you? While they have going on about their merry lives, America has been suffering psychologically from the defeat. Its time for us to burst their little bubble with some Freedom missiles. Trump would be wise to remind that tiny nation that America doesn't forget or rest until it gets even...

We lost a defensive war, and now its time for us to take the fight to Vietnam.

Won't matter, still will be a long line of men running for the WH. Including Michelle.

Well, Biden is handling his metoo moment rather poorly, and is his own worst enemy, what a shock, lulz.

Not enough to torpedo him just yet, but not a good start, and he hasn't even announced yet. If anyone can find away to piss away the Democrat nomination, Biden is the guy.
