The total number of Syrian refugees are > 11 million. Most of them are still in Syria.

They do.
Turkey 3.5 million
Lebanon 2.2 million (2015 data)
Jordan 1.2 million (2015)
USA 16.2 thousand
And it’s not the place of the US to be a holding place for other countries because they screwed up.
We if they can’t take care of themselves, it’s time for the UN to get involved.
Turkey: 79,8 million total population
Lebanon: 6,8 million
Jordan: 9,7 million
So, for Lebanon that would be some four million (or less, given the half a million or so Palestinian refugees they've also housed for decades now) native population.
The sympathy train doesn’t stop at this station.
Considering the US takes a million immigrants a year, and holds between 10 to 20 million illegal aliens in the US at any given time... remove the illegals and we will accept more vetted asylum seekers.
The US has their own problems, if the ME can’t take care of their own, then they shouldn’t expect the US or any other European country to do it for them either.
And before you go on any tangent, we should not accept any people from a country that chants death to America.

I'm not trying to get you to feel sympathy. I am trying to get to stop being stupid and saying stupid things. The Conservative wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 5:04 amAnd?BjornP wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 3:05 amYou could easily have googled that yourself, but:The Conservative wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 6:36 pm

If Lebanon has 6 million people and 2 million of those are Syrian refugees, what percentage of the population are refugees, TC? Does the US, or any European country have the same percentage of refugees (legal AND illegals), have anything like that percentage? No? Then your claim that "The ME" doesn't take care of "its own" (not that they actually see it that way, but nvm), is false. There are several European countries who have taken none, or next to none refugees.
Not saying that theyshould. If they don't want any refugees, they should, and be able to say no. But that's a different issue. My issue with you regards the basic facts. When you claim that the entire Middle East hasn't accepted any refugees, the story of Lebanon proves your point so EXTREMELY wrong, that it becomes ridiculous. Jordan as well, and Turkey has accepted the highest number of Syrian refugees overall (2,6 million), and the world's largest population of refugees from across the world (3,5 million).
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

Look at the figures you asked for, the ME has taken care of the vast majority of ''their own''.
This is a conversation about refugees by the way, if your country is going to offer unfettered financial advantages to economic migration then obviously you are going to get economic migrants. Go after the companies employing illegal immigrants and you will get fewer of them.

No, we'll just get more illegal immigrants without jobs. The companies employing them is only part of the problem. State and local governments are encouraging illegal immigration into our country by providing sanctuary cities and providing free healthcare, schooling, and other assistance.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 5:35 amThis is a conversation about refugees by the way, if your country is going to offer unfettered financial advantages to economic migration then obviously you are going to get economic migrants. Why would you use that as an excuse to stop someone who wants to leave that country and its dreadful leaders from claiming refugee status?
That would be like accusing someone who fled ISIS of being a terrorist.
