I have no idea how to fix LA BTW. Maybe just give them back the land still owned by US corporations, punish the surviving managers of the corporations that collaborated with the dictators as a show of good faith, and facilitate trade with legitimate producers. If you have better ideas I’d like to hear them.

No - no shifting gears...you said it was our fault that CA and SA are shitholes....as if they would be better off without our involvement....which completely ignores what was happening at the time (and still is - PRC has its claws in). You are either being dishonest or are completely ignorant as to the history of the time and region.

Here's how much we fuck SA - Columbia would not exist without our clandestine operations and huge financial support....they would be overrun by the FARC.
For god’s sake, the creation of FARC was a direct result of US interference in the country.

YES - Communist Rebels are a direct result of US involvement....the USSR and Cuba had nothing to do with it...all on the US....All of it....Fucking CIA gave them all copies of the manifesto and said have at it.

I used to do a lot of sailing. I could probably build us one, if we didn't care that we would probably die.
What will you and Leach be up to after the Alamo Bowl? He's my favorite coach but I want to know who's going to be driving the boat. :goteam: :drunk:

FARC was created in the early 60s as a response to the US-encouraged government attacks on peasants who were suspected of supporting communism in Colombia. You can’t take us out of this equation no matter how much you’d like to. This was US policy in the region.

Hardy har har Fife - but MilSpec votes...people like her vote based on ignorant views of the world that she probably heard from her leftist friends in CT. People like her vote in socialists.....which in turn push "reforms" that turn a country Marxists....they are the cancer to liberty.

And what was Communist/USSR policy MilSpec?

if the US was completely absent from SA for the last 70 years....what do you think would have happened?

How about if we had actually let controlled capitalism work its magic? Your argument is that we had to be even worse monsters than the Soviet union, like we didn't have anything better to offer.

No - My argument is that the soviets were worse monsters than we ever were. Without us being there, SA would have been full blown Pinko-Commie and probably starving like Central America and VZ.....you premises is that we fucked up Central/South America....when it would have been even more fucked up if we had done nothing.

We propped up dictators because we didn't want to occupy.....it was the most cost-effective way to keep commies at bay.

And that was 35+ years ago...Holy fucking shit.....how long do a people need to be free to stop blaming us for their own failures?

US provides wooden sticks less than the width of a thumb so parents stop using spiked metal batons to beat their kids....parents then beat their kids with wooden sticks....MilSpec's view of the world is that US fucked up those families by causing parents to beat their kids with wooden sticks.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. We were there and it was horrible. It benefitted us, not them. How would you go about fixing what we broke? Would you rather restore the Soviet union and let them take another crack at it?
