The Brits were OK... as far as Imperial powers go... spread a lot of good infrastructure and institutions around the globe... but empires got a bad rap in the star wars series so that couldn't really last.
Your institutions are just getting a bit crusty that's all... but for the most part you got a head start on liberal democratic capitalism and you retain that lead by a country mile.
Noone is really in a position to challenge you... just don't throw away the secret sauce.
It is easy to point out America's problems. They are legion. But all this culture war stuff imo points out the moral and intellectual bankrupcy of progressivism. They have destroyed the family, weakened our borders, made a mockery of our values, and set us on the course for ruin. This will not end well for any American if they keep holding influence. It makes me sick to my stomach that we are actually debating transgender bathrooms, or the virtue (no according to progressives the necessity) of single mothers and welfare. This shit is not sustainable. It just isnt.
In a thought experiment, take all the values conservatives emphasize. Self sufficiency, a strong family, minimal dependence on government, having strong ties to your local area, hard work, masculinity (standing up for yourself, working hard taking care of your family, trying to be as normal as possible).
Now take all the values that progressives are emphasizing: dependence on government (its fine to be on welfare), abberancy (in sexuality and many other things), not valuing the norms and traditions of your local area and actually wanting to bring in divisive ideas and people just because it is "diverse", hardwork is seen as materialism, tradition as patriarchy, mockery of things like marriage and family (by giving welfare to single mothers and thus encouraging the behavior which statistically shows that the kids will become fucked up messes), high taxes on productive workers, a lack of enthusiasm about the country you live in and not seeing it as any different than any other, and a disgust for masculinity (even though strength and defending yourself is the only reason any country or unit does not get taken over by another one) etc.
Now lets continue this experiment and say that if you had to live in one of those two groups where the one of the two values I emphasized was the norm, which one would you pick? Which one do you feel would weather economic, military, or political storms better? Which one community would last longer, or even last at all? That is what progressives don't realize. Their decadent degenerate lifestyle is only possible because the conservatives exist. The single mother who says that she is a hero and has the hardest job of all, and the welfare collecting immigrant who says fuck white people buy their fucking food and have a roof over their head because at the moment there are enough stable conservative hard working tax payers subsidizing them. If shit really hit the fan, these progressives would be forced to adopt the values of conservatism they so malign, because otherwise they'd fucking starve. This will always be a reality. Change is often good, or at least interesting, but the backbone of every stable society always involves the values that are never hip or cool. Going to work, taking care of your family, not being rootless, minimizing govt spending, are what keeps decent countries decent. And I've never heard a convincing argument otherwise.
